On the sea/hear page are 2 new videos...the 'Lille' video they showed in Dublin and a video showing Lisa at the EP to 'Keep It All'...lovely!!!

So I thought now would be an appropriate time to jot some of my ponderings over the last couple of weeks since the new year. Happy New Year by the way folks, a tad late but better than never as they say..

Last year, fondly now termed by young Hannigan as the year two thousand and GREAT, was pretty much just that. Never before have I worked as hard in any job I've ever had, but also never before have I spent as much time smiling and laughing as I have over the last 12 months.

Between recording and releasing Sea Sew, driving around Ireland during the wettest
Summer/Autumn I can remember playing some beautiful venues of all shapes and sizes, seeing our first sea of people facing us at Electric Picnic and hearing the noise they made in the tent, touring America and playing venues we would only have dreamed of playing were it not for opening for Jason Mraz and co (some of the soundest and hard working people we could have been lucky enough to meet at any point in our careers incidentally), and closing off with a weekend in Dingle in Kerry to record Other Voices and finally playing my favourite Irish venue, Vicar St. I'd only been to gigs in the audience of Vicar St, so standing on the stage was savage! The perfect end to an incredible year, and I think I can speak for everyone in the band when I say it was a very emotional night for us all. I won't even try to put it in words, Lisa did it best that night so anyone that was at the gig will know.

SOOOooooooo... I won't speak for the rest of the band here, but the last couple of weeks of two thousand and great were spent doing a whole lot of nothing except eating and drinking too much, catching up with buddies I hadn't seen in yonks, sleeping too long and watching movies I've seen a hundred times, and, I, LOVED every second.

I've got the relaxation out of my system now, we've been rehearsing and recording a bit since the new year, and we're now getting ready for the next trip stateside in February/March. Its our own tour and the record will have just been released in America when we get there, so excitement is building every day as we countdown to the next leg. That, coupled with the brilliant news yesterday that Sea Sew been nominated for the Choice Award here in Ireland alongside nine excellent Irish records, is a savage kick off to the year ahead.

I have no idea what 2009 has in store for Team Hannigan, but one thing is for sure, I'm gonna have a lot of craic finding out. Thanks to everyone that has anything to do with the year gone, whether its telling someone you heard a girl you like called Lisa something on the radio to pushing the buttons on the recording machines, hopefully we'll all be seeing more of each other over the next while...
