Default damien burnout

anybody else ever get this? i think i burned out on damien, the music is just too damn depressing and takes such an investment to listen to. i havent touched any albums or live recordings in a month, and don't really feel the need to for a while.

i'm listening to more upbeat music as of late, notably belle and sebastian...

I think everyone goes through that, you don't have to listen to damo 24/7.

you're allowed to listen to other stuff .... hehe but only every once and a while.

I don't know, I had phases before Damien but the hardcore period only lasted about 6 months per band. But Damien, it's 2 years later and this thing is stronger than ever man... my depressing music tolerance has gone up by a lot, I think. lol. I usually listen to Damien, The Frames, The Swell Season, Ray LaMontagne and such and I do pretty well.

But I do sometimes give myself a break by listening to some funner (than Damien, but not necessarily fun) bands like Snow Patrol, Stabilo and Hawksley Workman.

And I work retail, so there I get my dose of the Pussycat Dolls and Fergie.

the only artist I have never burnt out on is John Lennon 1969-1980.

I have had burnouts on even my favorite band, DMB, and people like David Gray, and Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Tim Reynolds.

Me, I havn't listenend to a lot of Damien recently because I am waiting for the new album foir x-mas (that's why I havn't posted thatmuch recently is because you are all talking about 9 and I havn't heard it yet . . . the waiting makes it better I think).

before i listened to damien i only listened to angry death metal which made me really pissed off at everything then i started listening to depressing music like damien and then more depressing music like bright eyes. for a while i didnt listen to any damien and only listened to bright eyes until i was extremely depressed and was loseing my mind so i didnt listen to any music at all for like 2 weeks, now i keep a balance of more upbeat music and 'depressing' music like damien and bright eyes and when i do get depressed i just throw in some they might be giants

Sometimes I get kinda depressed after listening to his music, especially after Rootless Tree (Live version ESPECIALLY!). However I can usually remedy it with some nice, upbeat, Coconut Skins.

Cool grown man crying

I was at work today, at Starbucks, and "9 Crimes" came on over the in house music system (look for my other post about this) and I started to cry. Really. A big 6'1" 275lb man weeping while making lattes ... yeah ... it was good day to be depressed at work.

After the Damien rotation was over I went out for a smoke, when I cam back in I put on the reggae collection, that brought me back.

Default not really

i've been listening to him since the first week 'o' was released

as someone mentioned above, his music is not something i really go in and out of phases with. sure, i listen to a whole bunch of other things but i will always come back to a damien track or two when i feel like it

seriously, am i the only one who doesn't find damien's music depressing? for me it's just the opposite it's uplifting, especially if i feel down..

and no i don't really get burned out on his music. i listen to other music of course, but damien has been in regular rotation for some time now because the music is so unique and unusual compared to anything else out there.. that plus the intimacy, the emotional intensity and the complexity (it has so many layers - lyrically and musically) means i don't ever really get tired of it

I think this happens for most people with their favorite artists, no matter how much they may love the music. I've been the same way for a while now with Dave Matthews Band, but I am starting to get that desire to listen to them again.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. But as to the original thread starter, I'm just the opposite right now. I'm in Damien overdrive. As a matter of fact, I just programmed my new mp3 player with all Damien.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to download an mp3 of Lonely Soldier and/or Rat Within the Grain?
