Damien's saddest song??
someone was asking me now... what do you think it's Damien's saddest song???
not sure... was thinking that for me it's probably Fool... the combination of sad lyrics, the way Damien sings plus the cello makes it the saddest to me what do you all reckon?

So so many for me:
Accidental Babies, the very, very last "Do you feeeeel...like you...belong?", and "What about me?" before Vyvienne's cello part 9 Crimes ending, especially whenever he cries out "no" until his voice gets hoarse Is That It My Friend, the "I'm all I'm alright" part Old Tomatoes leading into Delicate I wonder just how much Damien wallows in his own self-pity and depression...it's hard enough to take it just as listeners |

Just realised this also could be a contender for saddest Damo song... Forgotten Deers!!
I wonder, where do deers go to be forgotten??

Either "Accidental Babies" or "Dogs."
I mean, "Dogs" starts out happy, but then by the end the "and there's no need for me" gets me every time. |

you're right about the last line in Dogs changing the meaning... love those one-lines that he adds at the very end of songs... it's a bit like 'And You Know it's a Lie' in Elephant...
was thinking that Then Go is a pretty sad one too!!

Accidental Babies and Insane do it for me. I especially like the live version of Accidental Babies with the long piano ending, the cello and Damien asking '...what about me...!'

oh my! prague... definitely prague. i was listening this song today, with my headphones and it´s pure sadness...
"I’m all wrapped up in you I’m all wrapped up in him too." yet magic at the same time. i recently discovered the chords behind the main guitar (sorry, i don´t know how to explain it, not even in spanish ) and i absolutely surrendered to this song... and to damien´s talent.

"wonderfully depressing" - isn't that just the quintessential Damo description?
Thinking on this some more, I remember feeling horribly depressed/simultaneously inspired the first time I heard "Wild and Free" (if that's what we're still calling it.) Maybe it was a situational thing because we hadn't heard much from him in awhile, or maybe it was because I felt guilty after hearing it for wanting so much new music, but agh. For what it's worth, "Everything I'm Not Supposed To Be" that he wrote/sang with Melanie Laurent is also pretty sad. |
