Default Toronto show-Massey Hall April 11

DR twitter just posted that both Canadian dates will have two opening acts.

https://twitter.com/DamienRice/statu...07868167352320

*The tweet has been revised now Mia@8 and Galagalactic@830*

Danforth was great looking forward to seeing Damien for a second time. The videos online have been incredible. Crossing my fingers for Bottom Shelf, Takes Alot.., I Remember.

Joel will probably be there as well, so I can't wait for some Damien+Mia duet and Joel joining Damo for some song

great show and great ending of our US/Can minitour, front row + we ended up all onstage for Volcano

setlist:
MFFF unplugged
Colour me In
The Box
Older chests
Amie
Volcano with people on stage
Woman like a man
Elephant
9 crimes
Trusty & True hamonium
Cannonball
Rootless tree
I Remember
---
The blowers daughter
Long Long Way

he was in very very chatty mood. great version of Rootless tree. he forgot a lot of lyrics, especially in the first 3 songs, of course he forgot the usual lyric in Colour Me In... also the opening line in the Box so he had to restart

What a show last night at the beautiful Massey Hall! Damien was engaging and brilliant. I liked how he played with a few songs, making them unique to this Toronto performance. He was in good spirits and had fun with the audience, especially the ones who kept having to pee...

Afterwards, it was worth the two hour wait to meet him! Greeted us by saying "good morning!" since it was after 1 . What I attempted to say to him, after exchanging hugs, was "Thank you. Thank you for coming, thank you for sharing your songs, it was awesome, your shows are awesome and I hope you come back soon". I stumbled and fumbled right on through that, so if by chance he reads this… "Thank You Damien "

Thanks! Huh, so have they not been opening at any of the shows so far? That's weird that the facebook page so recently said that they would be opening, but I still haven't heard anything about them. Also, how'd you get first row at the Toronto show? Lucky ticket buying, or empty seat?

empty seat there are so many empty seats in the first two rows due to scalpers not selling them, you just have to wait and sit wherever you want, I´ve jumped seats at half the concerts one easy thing to do is check stub hub just before the show and see what´s available, if something is available 5 min before the show, you can be sure to go and sit there, no one´s gonna show up

My Bubba opened until Philly and Mia in the 2 Canadian shows, so no Galagactic yet

Do you wait to move to the front until right before he comes out? Or do you do it before the opener? Just trying to figure out how to scheme my way up there!

At the beacon I went with the stubhub trick. And I sat there before the opener. Some of the other Eskimos moved right behind us after My Bubba was done. Usually I sit in my seat for the opener and move down after.

Which show are you going to?

Well, I'm going to Boulder Friday, which is GA, but then also Austin, which is when I'd like to try to move up if I can. Hopefully I can get a ticket to Houston as well.

Hi Everyone!

Please check out my blog post where I tell my tale about seeing Damien after my boyfriend and I couldn't make the first two shows.

Thank you!

It was a good concert, but not his best. I attended the 2007 concert at the Sony centre, and also the most recent concerts on the Danforth and also at Metropolis in Montreal. For me, in terms of the set list, the Sony Centre's 2007 concert was far superior, but the concert in Montreal (where he played for 3 hours) was most entertaining.

Having thought about the Massey Hall set list, I was a bit disappointed with the song selections and also the overuse of the loop machine. I also wasn't really feeling the guitar distortion, which he absolutely is loving in recent concerts.

The good:

MFFF
Colour Me In
Rootless Tree
Older Chests
Long Long Way

The not so good:

Set list. This one is a bit selfish of me to say, but, immediately after Amie, I was so hoping he'd go straight into Eskimo. He even started playing some of the notes of Eskimo. But then decided to stop. He has linked those two songs before (check it out on Youtube) and it is magical when he does.

Some of the other songs that I was not entirely a fan of include Woman Like a Man.

The Ugly:

People who kept going to the washroom (!)
The Harmonium for Trusty and True. The song is much better with guitar. He spoiled us last time when he had the choir singing live with him too.

All in all, it was a good concert but not a great one. When we left (my wife, brother, and sister are all diehard fans), we didn't know what to say or how to feel. I also am hoping he brings a band for the TD Echo Beach concert. That'll be special, as, when he came in 2007 in the Autumn, he had the band and it was amazing.

Apologies for being a downer... that's just my personal opinion

I also wanted Eskimo but alas, looks like he´s forgotten about the song´s existence

but I did like T&T on the harmonium... I personally prefer it to the choir version, I think that when he does the song with a choir, it´s a missed opportunity cos they could do much more but they just sing the same as him, which makes no sense to me, they should do harmonies and sing something different...

He did Eskimo at the Box back in the fall so it's still in his bag of tricks.

Im a big fan of the harmonium. Wonder if he could somehow do Sleep Don't Weep with it. I'd love to hear that.

After the concert, I actually felt empty.
i´d personally say fulfilling emptiness, if it makes any sense at all. quite an experience
