Phantom FM compiled a list of the 100 best albums of all time. It was voted for, through the website, by listeners.

The results can be seen here

Anyway, "O" was voted in at number 7. Personally, i don't agree but nice to see the support there for Damien.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Eh, sort of, actually! His ancestors are from co Cork! But that wasn't what I meant, of course. I was referring to the superior, unfaillable musical taste of the Irish

*cough, cough* I guess I wish 'Kid A' were a little higher up, but then those lists never get it right, do they.

I thought it was tipperary. In dream brother the author is all Irish brogue this and Irish brogue that, but thats more about Tim, in one of his journal entries Jeff referred to his grandfather as having an Irish tenor singing voice.

Yeah i thought it was great to see Oasis aswell. It's good that The Stone Roses are high up also.
However, I think "O" stands out like a sore thumb in the list. What's everyone's thoughts?

Yeah, it's in chapter 1 of 'Dreambrother'. It says that the Buckley's were hedgemasters and known around Cork for their skills as storytellers and troubadors.

A descendent of one of the Buckley hedgemasters, Timothy Charles Buckley, was the first to come to (upstate) New York in the early 20th century. This was TIM Buckley's grandfather.

Jeff's mom's family comes from Panama.

I'm wonderin' why Blink-182 is even on the list in the first place...but hey, it could be worse...

O seems a little high up there for a newer album. But personally it's the greatest album I've ever listened...except for maybe...Grace, but it's hard to decide. Damo isn't a legend yet, so I suppose him being up there with Jeff, Radiohead n' the Beatles seems odd...but O is really one of the top albums I've heard (haven't been around long though)

I'm just wondering why The Bealtes Revolver isn't any higher than it is, and really shocked U2 isn't in the top 10!

But after all, it is listener vot

I reckon that most "top 100" or "top 10" or whatever lists 'they' come up with are usually about 70% right, there's a lot of indie snobbery in good album lists, as well as that a lot of people will just vote for what they've been listening to lately, hence: O being "better" then Blood On The Tracks or The White Album , which is easily disputed on a lot of levels. Don't get me wrong Damien is still #1 to me in a lot of ways, but 'O' is more like a shining light of the great things to come rather then the 7th best album EVER made, i do think it REALLY stands up as a first album, especially when you compare it to the first attempts of folks like Radiohead, Dylan, The Beatles, The Pixies or The Chili's. You need to trust your own opinion in these IMPORTANT matters, people are very smart, but the general public are a pack of idiots. And 'Grace' is the best album.

Nirvana - Nevermind is the most overrated album in the history of music.

yeah i never really got that myself, but then again ya can never take these things too seriously, i guess the album kinda hits a note with people and how alternative music was still very small especially in America, the Pixies were selling out Ireland before they could fill a hall in the US, right up until this album you had to go looking and like it or hate it this album opened the floodgates for a million sh*te and a million good bands , so i guess thats why its there, just a theory

and just to show how good I am I seen NIrvana when this album was just put out and they played support to Sonic Youth in the TOp Hat Dun Leary(spelling) a couple of months later they were due to play McGonigles a tiny club on sth Anne st and it got cancelled and changed to the POint Depot

Damien in at number 7 does seem a bit unrealistic but it is hard to comprehend a new album like that being thrown into the deep end in a 'Greatest Ever' list because there has been music for so long. Maybe if we were all born in 2040 and we re-read the list, it would seem just as right because we weren't alive when it started out. Does anyone understand that?
