here's another review of the Buenos Aires show with some nice pics.
traslation (half google, hald me ): Songs to play alone Damien Rice passed through Buenos Aires to give an incredible and emotional show. More solo than ever, he reviewed his records and went on his way, alone. In a full Trastienda, the Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice gave an overview of his two solo albums and more solo than ever, he placed on his shoulders an over and hour and a half show that will remain in the memory of all who were there. Without any advertising or movement of the press, the Irish singer interrupted his vacation to make a series of intimate concerts in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. And when we say "intimate" is not exaggerating. Rice was literally on vacation, so he came without musicians, soundmen or roadies. Just him, his guitar and the audience. The formula of three worked perfectly, even at the time when one of his guitar's string broke and didn't have anyone to change it: "Now you will see an instructive class of how to change a strings," he said between laughs. From the beginning Rice was connected with the audience, based on anecdotes, jokes and even asked to play songs by request, no matter how unfamiliar they were ("This song is dedicated to three people in this room that know it" he joked at a time). But, besides unknown songs, he also played the most requested ones. Cannonball, Amie (preceded by a long anecdote about a failed relationship with a friend) 9 Crimes, Delicate, Volcano (He made more than one hundred people in the audience come up as a choir!), And of course, The Blower's Daughter, the main song from the movie "Closer." The closure was the shocking Cheers Darlin ', when he left the guitar, connected his iPod with a prerecorded track to the speaker and made his acting: made and smoked a cigarette (of what to be confirmed) and drank more than three glasses of wine in a row. Then, between angry, drunk and disheartened, he sang. During the concert we also saw some of the eccentricities of Rice. For example, he played more than two songs with absolutely all the lights in the place off. Also asked to cut the sound and played and sang without any support, and yet, there was nobody left without being able to hear him. Sometimes you can see when a concert is going to be special or not from the start. This was one of the cases in which, from the beginning, there was an atmosphere filled with emotions and unforgettable moments, both for the audience and for the artist who confessed at the end of the show that this was the first time he played all alone outside of his country. The truth, Damien, it wasn't noticed.

Thought that this was really cute. Just Damien and the audience interacting while he changed the guitar string in Buenos Aires. Here is the video to go along with the stories.

OK, I finally managed to rotate and upload my video of Insane.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7Madb1HYG0 Sorry it's a little shaky, I was trying to watch and not tape. The quality isn't as good as I actually have, but the best I can do working off my little netbook. I'll have better when I get back to my MacBook. I LOVE from 4:10 onwards. I'll try to get Accidental Babies up soon.... and all the other videos! |

I was going to quote the same picture because it's just wonderful!
Devushka, how wonderful what you experienced! You are the second person I "know" who could talk to him, and see that he is very kind with the fans... what a great memory for you!!! I hope you come soon to tell more about it... (If you think about it, that's actually the way it SHOULD always be... singers and musicians are... that: singers and musician, people with a passion which becomes a job... but still people... not better or worse than anyone... Damien knows that, but others definately don't...) |
