So, I'm listening to Star 98.7's "new music show" ( for those who don't know, this is one of Los Angeles' biggest radio stations, in one of the biggest markets in the U.S. ) and they just played "Volcano"...

Yikes, guess that means Damien's reallyhit the mainstream music scene now ( gotta love Clear Channel, blah - and yes, I know, KCRW has been playing him for awhile now )

Gee, well, I know for sure that it WASN'T played the week before - would have definitely remembered hearing it then.

You know, it's absolutely amazing that you can remember something as insignificant as the order ( supposedly ) that songs were played; yet not remember other things - selective memory, much?

Keep requesting his music at the station. As I mentioned on a previous thread I do that on a daily basis with kpri in san diego. I also email them news items about damien as they come in. That helps them to see he isn't a complete nobody. Recently the program director actually went out and bought the album o and says he has recommended it to others. At present they play volcano at least two and sometimes three times a day. I'm now trying to convince the program director to attend damien's concert in san diego in november.

I request the song at radio stations here in ATLANTA, but no one really plays it

You're the one who started bickering about this, because you keep insisting that you're right ( and seem hell bent on proving me wrong )

P.S. In response to stargift's post, I'm not sure how much airplay Damien is getting on star ( I don't listen to that station much outside of the Sunday night programs ) - perhaps some requests are in order.

get over it michelle.....i didn't start bickering over anything, i made a statement and you got an attitude when you replied back. regardless i'm done with this and never made a big deal about it.

and damien isn't getting any play on star really. i talked to one of the djs and he said they can't usually play "new music show" stuff....yet.

I doubt Kitten many of us from the U.S. got the warm and fuzzies for you over your anti-American spat. To me that's about as petty as it gets.

Now, everyone have a happy day, even you Kitten and go fecking Chargers!

I have 10 tickets which I bought for myself and 10 of my mates who are big fans and shall be going to see Damien Rice in Vicar Street, Dublin, in mid December. As for being anti-American, I am merely anti-you, i.e anti-assholes

Is anybody as sick as I am of this AllThatLies DR fan - I've checked out a lot of the message boards and he/she seems to be critisising other posters on a good few of then. Maybe the person who maintains these boards can remove this person as a member of "eskimo friends"?

Thats a bit harsh! I dont see anything too wrong with anything he's said. As one of the people who missed out on tickets for the Vicar St. gig and who was posting on this site looking for tickets, i thought Kitten was rubbing our noses in it a bit, andAllThatLies waspointing out that was out of order(in his own way!).

Your welcome to this site but as a newcomer(and especially on your first post) i dont think its for you toask for anyone to be barred.

btw (to everyone): This US Stereoptyping bullsh*t as been brought up before and been sorted out (and people have been barred for that!) and then along come new people to stir it up again. Change the record! This is a Damien Ricewebsite, take it somewhere else!

ps:Kitten, no offense intended

No problem, the Kitten takes no offence. As the only reason I checked out this site was to see when the next DR Irish gig was I see no point in checking it anymore. Farewell to one and all, anyone who makes it to Vicar Street I'll see you there.

Agree with Bobby Teenager though, thanks Bob

Don't think it was out of order for The Kitten to get 10 tickets, as long as he/she didn't intend on selling them on. I got 6 myself and don't feel bad in the slightest - me and 5 of my friends are gonna come over from Liverpool for it, and we'll enjoy it to.

And daol20,just to close my post, if there's US Stereoptyping on this site then there's certainly element of'outside-the-USA stereotyping' by our North American eskimo friendsaswell.

fair point.

btw, its not that she bought 10 tickets, theres nothing wrong with that. It was the way she bragged to us as we were pleading with anyone to sell us tickets, or help us out.

As it turns out, luckily enough im going nowtoo.

I'm very appreciate of what Jon (Allthatlies) has done for us DR fans. Maybe you are too without realising it directly, but that's not the point.

Nobody's gonna 'win' this one so can we please leave it at this. As an outside observer, I can see that nobody was deliberately trying to insult the other from the start. Let's just all swallow our pride and leave it at this, please?

(and replying with a, "I fully agree, but he/she was..." will just start things up again, so best not even attempt it )
Anyway, nothing to do with me, and it's pretty uncharacteristic of me to get involved - but just wanted to add this.

Well said Scon. I definitely appreciate Jon's contribution to the site especially seeing as I'm listening to the Fonda LA show as I type and wouldn't be able to do that were it not for him!
