Default looks like the Melanie album is happening

http://musique.ados.fr/news/melanie-...ticle8503.html

Melanie's album is out this Spring. It says above it's been done with Damien. Says the album was the product of their 'love affair' ehem...

first single:
http://vodpod.com/watch/5582081-mlan...-en-tattendant

^the song doesn't sound very Damienesque to me but of course my French sucks so I don't understand a single word she sings

EDIT: found the lyrics

i don´t know why, but i can barely stand french... but i´d like to hear another song, cause in this single she talks more than she sings... couldn´t watch the video properly, but i like the house, he.

trying to find any coincidence with Damien's Way of understanding music, but no way! jajajja Could it be some Juniper reminiscence, ie Weatherman???

It's funny people are saying that because (although I have no way of knowing currently whether he co-wrote this particular song or not) I can clearly hear aspects of Damo's sensibility in virtually every aspect of it on the very first listen:

The muted repetitive guitar rhythm a la YSBH, the prettiness of the chorus, the wandering cello and piano lines, the controlled chaos in the noise layering, the gradual build, the bridge (substitute Damo's voice singing it while playing piano), that climactic passionate scream, all those horns and the sing-songy quality to the extended instrumental outro is reminiscent of several of his newer songs.

but this song wasn't on the list of co-written songs that we found a while ago, right?

Stefan said he was gonna translate us those lyrics

Yeah I can kinda hear Damien's melody structure and dynamics somewhere in there. The whole crescendo thing with strings.

That being said, I'm not crazy about it.

Does anyone have a translation of the lyrics? Sorry, I'm uneducated in French.

I was very curious about Melanie's album and I'm happy I'm not disappointed at all. I can't understand much french, but I love the sound of it ;-) I also recognize Damien on it.Love the video and the fact that she looks a bit in love with herself just makes it better. She totally has the right to be, because she is beautiful, sexy, talented and kissed 2 man I would love to kiss ;-P

Inglorious Basterds (and it is spelled wrong on purpose). I too, fell asleep, but from what I saw she was alright. The husband liked it though. Not a big fan of her voice either. Or the video.

Until we get a true French speaker to do it, this is the gist of the first verse and chorus Marti posted:

I winked at the clouds
Beating of eyelashes
I challenged the biggest storms
Umbrella gone
Swimming in fresh water
A little clumsy
Sandcastles in the foam
Ephemeral and not right

[Chorus]
Time takes its time
And I'm losing mine
I invent childish games
I do little with anything
Time takes a good deal of time
And I make trouble with mine
I invent games that are worthless
I'm little but I do well
Waiting for you
Waiting for you

I agree, I could definitely hear how he would have influenced it. I thought it was okay.

From DR.com
Melanie Laurent releases her debut record en t'attendant on May 2 in France and Belgium through Atmospheriques / Pias. Damien has co-written and produced five songs for Melanie, while Joel Shearer has produced five other songs, the video for one of which you can see on YouTube.com and Melanie's official website.

I think the album could be interesting. Joel Shearer and Damien are great artists.
Not sure if the singer was the greatest to sing those songs, but... if she wrote the lyrics, guess that she have to sing it. ^^ COol project.

well... he says something in english as well
from news page, hehe:
Quote:
“I called my manager and asked him to call Damien Rice’s manager and organise something. I didn’t expect him to come, but he did, and we started to work together. I fired everyone and followed him to Ireland.

“He taught me everything about being a musician. I was a huge, huge fan, so it was weird for me to just speak with him like it’s natural, when I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m speaking with Damien Rice and we’re creating music together’.”

30 sec clips at Amazon.fr, Damien is featured in 2 songs (Everything you're not supposed to be and Unconfortable). The 30 sec clip of Everything... does have Damien, the one for Unconfortable doesn't... songs 3,7, 9, 10 & 11 are cowritten by Damien
