I'd love to see Damien with a jazz trio, actually - or with a big band!
It's prolly just his usual solo act though, right?

yes, the thing is the name of the festival is misleading... check who else is playing... Antony & The Johnsons, Rodriglo & Gabriela, PACO DE LUCIA!!!! not very jazzy
it's the same with other festivals, for instance there's also the Montreaux Jazz Festival and they have all sorts pof people, from Ed Sheeran to Lana del Rey but hardly any jazz... that said, Ghent is an amazing city!!

It was great seeing him live again after five years. And somewhat strange how little has changed. Still the same songs, still the same stories, still a bottle of wine. But I'm not complaining, I loved it. It was quite a nice venue, relaxed atmosphere and the crowd was really into it. Some noticeable moments. Instead of inviting people on stage for Volcano, he divided the whole crowd into three: quite an energy there was. Hilarious moment during Blower's daughter (last encore) when a girl in the crowd appeared close up on the screen: she looked so sad that the whole crowd just couldn't help but laugh (and laugh harder as it lasted). Since Damien couldn't see the screens, he thought everyone was laughing at him for not hitting a high note properly.
When we went for a drink afterwards we were in line behind a girl who was texting with Damien. Just wondered if she is on here?

I'm forgetting the most 'important' thing: at some point during the encores he said that this little tour has inspired him to come out with a new record...
But with Damien, never get your hopes up too soon.
