ehm... maybe I need some help from you oldexperiencedeskimoes...
I've listened to the new single, I really like it, but i owned an old live recording of a song called Nine Crimes that was totally different.
here they are lyrics to the song

this is...,
what if..,
what if you?

you don't get it like I want you to
so roll the dice , there goes my rule number 2

so roll the dice, don't ask why,
just keep following me , cause im following you
if she stays with you , then you were right
if you're still here when she's gone, you're not wrong
though I stand with this rain on my back, but it feels so damn good to belong

this is..., what I.. ,
I think I need
these big fat feelings
it hurt my cheek

so roll the dice, there goes my rule number 2 yeah
roll the dice, don't ask why,
just keep eating the food and
if she stays with you, then you're were right
if you're still here when she's gone, you're not wrong
though I stand with this rain on my back, it feels so damn good to belong

rule number two : don't be a fool
rule number three : get up off your knees
rule number four : open your door
rule number five : keep it alive
rule number six : don't be a (?) witch (? )
and rule number eight: don't leave it too late
rule number nine : just take your time

Anyone of you has aclue? What has appened to this song? I like the new "nine crimes" but I loved the old one too... do we have to say goodbye to it or maybe it will be recorded or played with a changed title?
who knows...
thanks anyways

different song, it's called rule number 2. . It's been mislabled and has caused much confusion.

Actually it's "Rule No 2 Y Junction" for some reason. Sh*t-annoying title.

It occured to me, given that we've heard a fair few of the songs (and likely have our favourite live versions), half the time we're expecting our favourite version to be reconstructed in a studio environment. Which isn't really realistic/fair to expect from the band. I think the recordings need to be taken on their own merit...

nah you're off base there.. i didn't have any expectations, 9 crimes isn't even one of my favorite songs, i've barely listened to it since i never had a good recording of it anyway..

but i've been waiting years for a recording from damien, and that's who i was expecting/wanting to hear from the first note.. see what i mean? there's a difference. but that's just my opinion, you're welcome to yours as well

They do like to think of themselves as being young and vibrant, don't they? Then again so do we.

this is true.. cliche but true..

but it kills me when people seem to get pissed off because others don't always agree with them, there's such a defensiveness.. it makes me chuckle a little a little diversity in opinion is what makes things interesting.. i'm not trying to blaspheme lisa's name in the presence of true believers, i'm just more of a damien than a lisa worshipper

Well I'm speaking from a sort of idealist ivory tower anyway, I haven't heard the album version of Nine Crimes, and I won't 'til November sixth. It's been quite a wait, so I'm holding out for the real thing... I figure it warrants at least that.

Just curious but, does that include you wont listen to a Radio Version of it? Only the album version?

i agree with you to some extent. i don't think it is fair/realitstic to have them recreate it in the studio, but i just think that the song has changed to much. i'm acutally not a fan of lisa singing in it when it first starts. i think she sings well in it, but i just prefer damien alone in this song, because the new single seems to be mellowed out or something alot more and i prefer the much more raw damien.

I don't listen to the radio, so I wouldn't get to hear a radio edit until the single comes out. I'm not too bothered by it though. Getting all hyped about an album seems a bit self-defeating in a way, because usually the albums you find yourself loving are the one's you can come back to and still find something new in. There's no real guarantee's that you'll feel that way about any album you haven't heard, no matter who it's by. There'll be other great albums between here and November 6th.

and now to hear it recorded a year later, having seen it played live bout four five times and heard recorded versions as well, i regretabbly have an expectation that goes with listening to it.
nasically, i just think that had i heard this here version as the first introduction to "nine crimes" then i think that i would absolutely love it, it kinda hss that volcano feel to t..
anywho, theres my two cents, and they were me last two, no bus fare to me... guess ill be terkkin home hereonin...

You might not get away with it, imagine yourself standing in a shopping mall a couple of weeks before the release and from the speakers above you'll hear "Nine crimes"...okay, granted, that'd be mean.

Well I wasn't neccesarily talking just about you, it was just a general observation. Obviously you're all welcome to love/hate it as it suits you!
