Default Seoul Jazz Festival 2013

So I randomly visited damienrice.com and noticed this festival listed as his sole tour date, on sale soon

Only info I could find is on the festival facebook page https://www.facebook.com/seouljazzfestival

The Festival is on May 17/18

I'll never understand why a festival with Damien Rice + Kings of Convenience + Rodrigo y Gabriela should be called "Jazz Festival".

Anyway, thanks eva!

I found an article of Damien.
it is a poor translation but I did do my best.

Damien Rice "I'm not going to concerned about my image
| 2013-04-28 08:00 article.

A second concert in Korea at Seoul Jazz Festival on December 18

Irish folk rock singer-songwriter Damien Rice's music is candid. Colorful and complex sound, rather than, sincere lyrics, and a concise instrument configuration, honest voice tug at ppl's heartstrings.

Rice delivered a message, Seoul Jazz Festival on May 18, 2013, to meet Korean fans in the second stage was not even an afterthought. he tried to accurately convey the portion actually know and feel rather than raise the sophisticated emotions.

in 2012 when the first performance of matted hair, bushy beard appeared was not intentional appearance.

in an e-mail interview with the AP, "I am not systematic," he said, "When i go up on stage, do not think how to decorate my image and also not plan ahead," he said.
Brought to a hair style at the time, I was just wondering how I feel about my appearance. and I grew my beard, because I wanted to know the reaction of the other person.

It has no pretense to all the music, looks, and tone.

Rice reasons about the popularity of his song in Korea, "no idea, I think I am not a pop star," he said, "I just sing".

I asked him which musicions that influence his lyrice and melody
and he answered I'm not sure where the impact comes from and what is that.
revealed distinctive cynical reaction. it was a philosophical comment based on the usual contemplation.
the direction and the look of influence is always changing.
some people to talk about the influence and pretend to know about some story. but I have no idea what they say about.
i create song when something happened.
random incident influences the songs and the incident will affect the other events.
this thing repeated.
so I think the song is inspired with advancing age "
he said,
"I don't know the other musicions"
"If I feel any action that I and others are so similar, I tend to move in the other direciont." and told about his 'bent attitude.'

he is interested in social issues, such as to participated in activities for peace in Tibet,
but his explanation for this part, however, were cautious.

he said,
"sometimes, the strong thought that change the world or make the world a better place come in to my mind but on the one hand,
I realize i dont know what I am talking about, what I think
and I came to know the place where I think better might worse place to other people.
so I try to a person who not meddle in other people's affairs and friendly to people"
he drew the line at disclosing a single personal thing about himself.

Then, the music, the story came out, unlike rice, explained with use symbols and parables.

"Music is moving air, vibration that can bend the time and powerful enough, yet enthusiastic escape of swirl" he said.

and he gave an advice to juniors,
"you can't hide yourself no matter what you do"
Finally, for the performance in May,
"when the first performance, the audience is very friendly and I liked warm atmosphere" and "I don't expect specially but my mind is open to enjoy performances.

a girl from the italian website got some news from the gig... Damien was very drunk at the end, usual setlist with no new song apart from The Greatest Bastard. He said that he's working on the new album, but didn't say anything on when it will be released or things like that.

This is the setlist:

1- Elephant
2- Older Chests
3- I Remember
4- Delicate
5- Rootless Tree
6- Volcano
7- The Greatest Bastard
8- The Professor & La Fille Danse
9- Wild & Free
10- Cannonball
11- Amie
12- Cold Water

13- Eskimo
14- Cheers Darling
15- Woman Like A Man
16- 9 Crimes
17 - The Blower's Daughter

Some new lines in there, with the beautiful new chorus.

" We learn that lovers love to sing,
and losers love to cling, didn't we?"

Gone is the verse about him being underground in a dream. He's probably still in the experimental stage with this song. But really cool that we get the chance to hear it in these early stages.

Hi Verenita
If you decide to go and need some tips on nice places to visit, while in Belgium, just let me know. Belgium is a bit boring, but we have some cosy cities like Ghent and Antwerp.

he said

" after a bunch of years of confusion and lack of direction, i wanted to say that I am working on a new album so......"

" it is so surreal to grow up in a small country like Ireland, a little island, playing the guitar, singing a few songs and go to a country half a way around the world and have people.. It's so surreal. It's kinda weird. so I really just wanna say thank you and I really do. thank you guys, have a beautiful beautiful life and beautiful night.."
