Listen to this
I could make a new thread for each new band/artist that inspires me, but then I'd have to research them (and I am very lazy)
I'm always looking for new tunes, so I thought it could be nice to exchange our latest discoveries here I kinda like waxahatchee And Katie Kim |

New faves
Ryley Walker - really Brit folk reminiscent, but he's from Chicago
Courtney Barnett - kind of punk/singer-songwriter from Australia |

saw this band during the Coachella webcast and this song caught my attention. They're too poppy for me but I liked that one

this was played on WFUV before Damien's show last week and I thought it was from the 60s! Only today I realized it was released a few months ago

Sorry I don't know how to embed! I'm digging Lily & Madeleine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmQ2nnLTdXI And Torres: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa1cbq1Gqps And SOAK (going to see her in Boston tomorrow, yay!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwmeF9aDy20 |

thanks for all the videos. i´m always rather shy to share music that i really like, but here it is anyway.
lisandro aristimuño - "how long". he is argentinian, he sings in spanish, but i do love the concept of the song... just to focus on things that are really worthy and that we love to do... because they are for free! in opposition to the things that we have to pay for "in order to be happy". i hope you get the idea

I discovered Torres by reading this intriguing show review, so after she played here in a teeny tiny cheap bar. **sniff** Still waiting for the time machine to be invented.

Caroline, forgot to ask you how was the Ryley Walker gig. I loved his album this year and I'd love to catch him live, but he's not playing anywhere near me. Might consider a trip to see him somewhere else.

Happy day to you too, Vere! Quote:
He's doing a free gig in Brussels on the 25th of August, so I guess there'll be more European dates around that time. |

Jesse Mac Cormack
He opened for Villagers a couple of months ago. He's brilliant. He also did this, which reminded me of someone else (his music is very different though) Last edited by carrroline; 07-25-2015 at 08:38 AM. |

So this band the Bad Books is one of the loves of my life. They're basically the best parts of Manchester Orchestra plus Kevin Devine. Swoon!

^ Nice. Spotify keeps playing me his stuff.
Haven't given it much attention though. I've been working on an all Irish playlist for a friend, and so I started listening to some old favourites again: Mick Flannery, Fionn Regan & The Man Whom. (I'm sure that if you copy/paste their names on youtube some nice songs will pop up —Sorry, I'm particularly lazy today ) -- Edit: okay maybe i shouldn't have been that lazy... The man whom - over and under (not his best, but maybe the most catchy tune) Mick Flannery - California (also: read the 'personal life' section on his Wikipedia page, it's hilarious ) Fionn Regan - put a penny in the slot Last edited by carrroline; 12-19-2015 at 05:43 AM. |
