I don't know him yet, but I bullied a fan of mine into sending me a song, so I'll tell you later what I think of it.

i am a sufjan stevens fan. anyone who can do a beautiful thematic musical tribute to michigan is okay in my book (even though i've never actually been to michigan, personally) i was reading on his label's site that he plans to do a concept album about each of the fifty states. i can't wait to see what poetic things he can say about north dakota. "for the widows in paradise; for the fatherless in ypsilanti" (track 3) is probably my favorite track thusfar.

There are a number of threads on Sufjan Stevens on this very forum. Here's one: http://www.eskimofriends.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=8494
And yeah, he kicks ass. The latest album is fantastic.

Sufjan is amazing, Illinoise is just as good as Michigan, if not better, I can't wait to hear more from him.

You realise of course that at an aveage of an album a year he'll finish when he's 78.
Whats there to say about South Dakota? I bet he'll be strecthed and have a 4 song cycle called "Washington's Face, ", "Lincoln's face", "Jefferson's Face", "Roosevelt's Face"

78 is a bit old... i think if he manages to stick to the state project he could probably do two a year. although i loved seven swans, so i guess as long as he continues to put out music i won't complain.

I've still not heard any of his music, but have taken advice from good friends and bought a ticket to see him live in London.

Great news for everyone that loved 'Come On Feel The Illinoise!' as much as I did:
Sufjan Stevens is releasing a new album with 21 outtakes from the Illiniose sessions as it was originally intended to be a double album: http://www.asthmatickitty.com/news.php?newsID=57 http://www.asthmatickitty.com/music.php?releaseID=50 - track listing

Im a big fan of Sufjan Stevens aswell.. I have two of his albums, Illinois and Seven swans. The title track for seven swans, i have to say is incredible. And I would also highly recommend 'The Seers Tower' from Illinois.. Great stuff
