I started with For the Birds just because Lay Me Down was on it and I loved that song. Since then I've bought every Frames album that I could get my hands on, those being Burn the Maps, The Cost and Set List. And I absolutely love them all, although it took me a while to recognize how great Burn the Maps really is....... It's pretty different compared to their other stuff, but songs like Locusts, once you get into it, are precious. And yeah, the Once recordings are different from the Swell Season record. even the duplicate songs are re-recorded. I got to sing Falling Slowly with Glen Hansard at the Toronto screening. It must be getting old for Sharmin (haha sorry babes) but it was like, the highlight of my life. lol. |

Ha.. don't worry my dear, it was a fabulous moment (and you're so entitled to relive it over and over and over again!)
I second the Breadcrumb Trail recommendation from the 1st page - that album is blissful. Although, the Set List version of Star Star is pretty amazing too. The Frames are just amazing live. |

Is Breadcrumb Trail still in print? I've searched the net and can't find it for purchase anywhere.

The movie had enthusiastic reviews by Ebert & Roeper, you know, these American critics, two big thumps up!!!! They were really positive, said it was the best musical since the 80s!!! and that that was a real musical, not Chicago ro Dreamgirls... They also mention the movie is rated R, which is really stupid, and something like, kids sneak in!!!

The film just got a nice review at BBC World's Talking Movies programme. I have to see this film soon or else...

I was the one filming!
People were shouting out songs they wanted him to play and someone, of course, said "Falling Slowly!" He said he would, but Marketa wasn't here (she had a hard time getting her Canadian Visa, unfortunately)... but then he added... "does anyone know her part?" And then Adelaide's hand shot up, he invited her up and then her sister Esther and another girl joined him... and there you have it They were amazing, weren't they? I was so proud of them! |

it was odd, really. the morning of the showing, I told my friend, you just watch my darling, I am GOING to sing with Glen Hansard. And I actually did. LOL I am usually really shy and all squirmish around Glen Hansard-like figures, but this one time I was all now-or-never and I am SO glad my shamelessness paid off. hahaha. The entire night was fun and improv'ed, really. It was really unfortunate Marketa couldn't make it, but it was more spontaneous. There was this other guy in the audience, Peter Katz, who apparently had given Glen a copy of his own album to listen to and Glen loved it, and he invited Peter to come sing for the crowd. And by the second chorus, Glen had come up with an accompaniment part so we got an improv-duet. Fun time was had by all, really. And especially me. I adore that man... Wow, a Frameskinda, Once topic Love it!
Got to see the film twice in Dublin while I was there. I even have a huge poster of the film...asked for it at the cinema . I love it and I hope my friends here in Holland can see it too, sometime... And the soundtrack is beautifull too! And I like the Frames a lot too... saw them live a couple of times now and (like others said) that's the best way to get to know them. I like The Roads Outgrown a lot, because of the beautiful version of Fitzcarraldo (think that's the best version there's on cd...). And I started with Set list and loved Star Star immediately . |

I just bought Set List at Best Buy yesterday. That's the only one we had, hehe. I also made a title card for the band so other folks can find em. This, combined with my Frames concert dvd, and I am in Frames heaven. I love "Revelate" so much.

Also, if you Wikipedia "The Frames" then go to the bottom of the page, there is a link to a show (audio and video) from the Paradiso. It's a great show. Check it out.

No, it's not. But it's really great quality - I think it was taped off a tv program.
Here's the info: The Frames - Lowlands Festival, Biddinghuizen, Holland 19 Aug. 2006 Setlist: 01 - Finally 02 - Falling Slowly 03 - God Bless Mom 04 - People Get Ready 05 - Pavement Tune 06 - Fake 07 - Star Star 08 - A Caution To The Birds 09 - Revelate 10 - Dance The Devil Back Into His Hole Acoustic set: 01 - Too Many Sad Words Make A Sad Sad Song 02 - Falling Slowly 03 - People Get Ready It looks like it's not on dime anymore, though. So I'm seeding it again right now. Let me know if you have any problems, and I'd be happy to mail a few copies. |

It was indeed. When there are big festivals here in Holland, 3voor12 is taping a lot or Channel 3. By the way: the DVD is not the full concert. They cut it off at some point... Oh and i have mp3s of that Lowlands gig...
And you don't know, but you've seen me . I'm really reconocible (singing) at that concert, haha. But that won't work if you don't know me... I still don't have it on DVD... but somebody promised me to send it to me some time... You can find a lot Frames stuff on www.3voor12.nl too. It's a Dutch music site... And on Fabchannel there's the Melkweg gig of last year. Last edited by SnoopS; 05-31-2007 at 04:56 PM. |
