need a mic! (for my computer)
I've been wanting a mic that I can use to record my singing (just for practice, nothing serious really...), but I'm not quite sure what to get. I'm looking for something that is:
$50 or less. Of good quality, but it doesn't have to be super-amazing. able to plug into my computer! Any suggestions?

I just bought one for $20 from Radioshack last week to record my guitar playing. It's surprisingly decent. It's just called Desktop Computer Microphone.

try to get a condenser mic for as cheap as possible. they cancel out backround noise and hissing.
that said 50 dollars is quite cheap for a condenser. as long as your computer is fast and doesnt make too much noise you should be okay..

thanks for the advice guys!
i thought about Radioshack, but wasn't too sure of how the quality of those would be. (they are pretty accessible, and on the cheap side) I looked up condenser microphones on Amazon & Musician's friend, and there were a lot that weren't too bad(price wise). I don't really know much about mics (im new to this stuff), so I get pretty confused sometimes... I did, in my searching, find this: usb mic I don't know about the quality of this brand, but it seems like it would fit my needs (which aren't much) perfectly. ^.^

Also, I've got my eye on this one: http://www.amazon.com/Samson-CO1U-US...5422747&sr=8-1 for when I eventually have enough cash.
What kind of recording do you want to do? Any USB Mic should do the trick - I just wanted one to do very basic recording of my guitar, so the Radioshack one works for now. Eventually I'll upgrade, when I become a better musician. |
