Hey guys, I've got a quick question for ya. In ten days I'm going to see Damien in Dallas and I can't wait. My question is this...I've noticed on talk shows when he plays Volcano, he really goes all out on the end and kicks on the mic distortion and everything. Does he do that in the live shows? Watching him do that live is freakin awesome, but I can't wait for the show though. It's going to be great.

I think he uses a toilet paper roll with electric tape. Actually, if you watch the video of him on Jay Leno you can see the tube taped onto the double mic. Really cool!

In addition to having this tube wrapped and taped around the microphone, he also patches it through a distortion pedal originally made for using with the guitar. The name of this pedal is "the RAT". It's a famous pedal that has existed for many, many years. In addition to the distortion you can also adjust the filter frequency on this pedal, and from the sound of the vocals sung through the "second microphone" one can clearly tell that Damien is using the filter function on this pedal as well.

Jordan, i don't think you can be fully prepared as to what you are going to experience at that concert. When I saw Damien play this summer it was the first time I'd heard him other than the volcano video and a recording of some songs at a concert in Amsterdam that I found when researching this new artist which at the time I knew nothing about. (Wow, that was a really long sentence)

Anyway...you are going to be blown away when you see him live. It's kinda like the Grand Canyon. You can see pictures and people can tell you about it, but when you see it in person the sight of it takes your breath away.

Well I am definitely ready. I have so many of my friends listening to Damien now. I appreciate the replies, and I did notice the toilet paper roll, I was just making sure that he did it during the live performances. Thanks guys.
