Have been a fan of them for ages! Conor is one of my absolute favourites. Diggin both of the albums! I think Becoming a Jackal is the best song but afterall, they all are magnificent! And it's nice to see them with Lisa. Conor once joined Lisa for O Sleep as well

For all the Damien, Ben Howard, Gemma Hayes and Florence + The Machine expectation I sure didn't see this one coming!

Can't wait, April is right ahead!

If you can't wait, take a look at their Instagram. They're posting song snippets
I'm glad that they're touring as well.

Ooooh, I shall get my hands on the record very very soon <3

Also, I didn't know Conor was gay. I think I like him even more than I used to (Although it's silly cause it really doesn't make a difference )

I don't think many people knew.
It's a proper coming out album.

Very beautiful album. Especially 'hot scary summer', stunning song...

Hot Scary Summer is brilliant!

And this is ironic - Conor talks album three in 2013

He seemed to be so sure back then though
I read that everything changed when he played with John Grant. He said that when he was leaving the stage he was like "Damn, I need to write songs like this!"

Anyway, I just fell in love with this. Oh those Irish people...always sounding extra beautiful live. ♥

PS: I think I like the beard better

Oh that's not something you could say about ladies, right?
But yay! More men, less boys!

Next few weeks will be feeding us with new live beauties I believe! I won't probably get anything done because of it

Hee hee... nope, men only

They're coming to Brussels soon. (In May) I'll be there and I'm allowed to bring my camera! Yay!

So envious! I saw them once at a festival, a year before Awayland came out. It was great but then a storm came out of nowhere and the gig was cancelled halfway through! And they were my absolute headliners :'( Luckily, they did play almost all of my favourite songs so I was grateful for that at least)

I'd kill to see a concert now. The only thing I've been able to do this week was listening to Darling Arithmetic.
And this.... ♥ http://3voor12.vpro.nl/luisterpaal/p...RO_832217.html
...this is the best thing I've seen/heard since the Ben Howard gig I attended.

As much as I enjoy songs about love and stuff, Conor brought it to another level. DA is so intense! And to witness it live? Take pics, report and first and foremost, enjoy it like your life depends on it

I wanted to say it was a new level considering that we were not used to anything like this from Conor. It has taken a while for him to open up and this lad clearly has a lot to say That's why it is so intense for me. He really put his heart into it.
(If that makes any sense now )

Oh, that's bad luck… but I bet they'll add some more dates to their tour, maybe somewhere close to you

I'm still kicking myself for not going to that session. It was last Saturday, only 1,5 hour by train from where I live. Free admission. I was planning to go, but had to cancel last minute. good thing there's a recording

It is very intense! Feels like a punch in the gut sometimes…
I adore his lyrics, he really has a way with words. (and great timing delivering them) I think DA is their best album so far. So painfully honest.

thanks! I will.

I went to my first Villagers gig yesterday.
It was a short set, 'cause it was a double bill with Patrick Watson. But they were great. (I don't remember the exact set list, but it was basically the new album + a couple of oldies —they did 'becoming a jackal', my personal highlight )
Here's one of my favourite pics. I have a lot more, but I didn't have time yet to sort through them.

Ah lovely <3 great pic. Feel free to add more Wish I could see him anytime soon. I have to agree on Becoming A Jackal, that is one of the greatest tracks ever. Also, thanks for suggesting Patrick Watson, will give him a go tonight

Meh... I'm not a huge Watson fan myself. I'm not sure you'll like him either. He's kinda the opposite of Villagers, very bombastic. Probably great if you're into all that, but I prefer things a bit more toned down.

I'll post more pics later for sure

Yeah, he was not what I expected him to be, really. He's the forgettable kind for me.
Amazing shots though! I might actually print one or two of them if you wouldn't mind. I was looking for good pics last night but didn't find anything useful Oh and that was a full band set! Was it more like the album or was it different?

PS: I understand you get to see great musicians at Cirque Royal!

Thanks!
Yeah, go ahead, as long as you don't sell any prints, it's fine!
Yes, I've seen some very fine artists in the cirque royal. Rhob, Damien, Villagers, all my favourites really

The sound was very much like the new album. The older songs sounded a bit different, more in tune with the new album. Except 'becoming a jackal', he did that one solo. (The audience joined in near the end, very respectfully though)
they even brought a harpist.

Haha, no selling here This wouldn't even cross my mind!
I found 'The Waves' from Paris on youtube and it sounds good. Although I usually prefer Conor solo or with the harpist (the intimacy kills me), there is nothing wrong with a few versions of one song

Hopefully sooner or later there will be a video of a full gig with some reworked Awayland songs. I don't dare hope they would come anywhere near me very soon

I can imagine that Villagers listeners are pretty civilized

Conor with a huge guitar
Anyway, I've been searching high and low for years for more The Immediate stuff but it's so rare. And they even released and album!
Conor on drums on the last one. I'm not sure I'm so much into it but it's interesting anyway.

(Again, timing isn't working so 8.30)

The immediate... I haven't really been looking, but the album and EPs are on iTunes over here... Is it just videos that you're looking for?

Found this (unrelated) video of Conor & Rhob a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for Rhob stuff (you've prolly seen it already):

They did a gig in the Belfry of Bruges yesterday. It was incredibly beautiful. The setting was stunning and Conor seemed so relaxed compared to the gig in Brussels. Pure magic
I made some photos, as usual
