I actually really like Everything You're Not Supposed To Be. Haven't had time to check out the other one yet, but I really like the sound of this one. It's super catchy and while she may not have have the best voice, I don't think it's bad and certainly not unpleasant to listen to.

I actually liked it quite a bit! Up through 2007 I listened to nothing but Damien and became a little burned out, and needed to switch it up a bit. The new music that he has put out since then, along with my favorites up through 2007, are just in a class of their own. Nothing tops Damien, and this tune is no exception. I was just talking to my fiance about how we should plan a trip to Europe in the next few years and schedule it around a show in Cork. Maybe we are dreaming, but still!

I actually really enjoy the messy part. Makes the song much more interesting to me than the other songs. And I love the strings leading up to that part. Plus, Mélanie's voice doesn't sound as odd as in the other duet.

ETA: And the horns! I'm just a sucker for horns.

well, i thought the same... but, on the other hand, i do believe that they (the three of them) did what they could with the material they had. i think it´s all about how good the resources are, you know, and try your best...

the english-french part on the bridge (i think it´s the bridge)... oh my! that does hurt my ears.

i found this:

3:05-3:35, the little man in action (starts at 1:54 actually, but just on the background).

^ indeed. damien looks like a little dissapointed child who didn´t get what he wanted to me, he.

here´s the lyrics, according to a google alert i got
Et tu reviens
Reprendre ta place
Je connais ce regard
Je connais ce regard

Et tu me dis
Que tu sais tout
Que tu regrettes
Le temps sans nous

You fall on me
Like firewood
Just like you should
Just like you should

But it's too late
I'm no longer full
Just uncomfortable
Uncomfortable

It's just like me
Mais c'est trop tard
To let you down
Et c'est sans moi
To walk away
Je te regarde
To fool around
Vouloir ma main
It's just like you
Mais c'est sans moi
To cry like this
Tu l'as perdue
Into the cracks
Au moins cent fois

hmmm, I have saved the links to listen to later, but I can't bring myself to listen to them lately because I miss his old music and don't think Melanie is a good match for him. But I guess I will give it a chance soon. And I haven't watched Honeyfest because I feel like 'Oh, he's performing THOSE songs again.'
I hate to sound like this, but I am very busy and feel like, ok, he's got something new, great. Thanks for sharing. I'll listen eventually, over a course of a few years there may be enough songs sporadically released into different projects that it may feel like a new album only without so many appearances and tours.

The songs aren't that bad, after a few passes I'm starting to enjoy them more.
I guess I'm just a sucker for Damien, so I'll take whatever i can get...

I finally listened to Everything your not supposed to be. I liked it for the first 2.5 minutes but didn't after that, too much jumbled noise. I have no problem with Melanie's voice, I think it flows well with Damien's in this song. It was mainly too much instrumental music.
However in Uncomfortable, I loved the instrumentals but I didn't like her voice until about 2 minutes into it.

It is very different from Damien, but then again, this isn't Damien. This could be just Melanie's sound and style that he contributed to. I still love the new one 'Wild and Free' but don't foresee a new album anytime soon. He seems to want to collaborate and help others musically instead of doing his own thing. Whatever makes ya happy, Damo! Keep Rockin!

The other day I realised that while 'Everything you're not supposed to be' might not be his best musically... the lyrics are unbelievable amazing and really deep and heartbreaking and beatiful!!!!!!!!!! especially this part...

I feel trapped and alone, I thank God you are gone... I sleep better now...
I feel free and I see what you are without me... I'm alive again...
I only wanted you to know that I never wanted you to go...
I know I was everything you're not supposed to be to someone that you love...
