But methinks what I'll miss the absolute most is her addition to Delicate... her voice truly an instrument, never have I heard anything of such beauty. Damn, Damo is a great talent, I adore him as a solo artist, but having seem so many shows with her in attendance, this really sucks. |

In ten albums time, the two featuring Lisa will just seem extra special.
Good luck to Damo and Lisa in the future, neither will need 'luck'.

ironically, just before writing this post i watched 'children of men' about how in the future the whole population is infertile. the youngest person alive was a big star. in the first 30 seconds people are watching the news to find he had been killed....for not signing an autograph.

Tell me what the **** must I be for you there are a number of songs of his regarding the difficulty in being true to yourself against the demands of others, about being honest against all those asking you to be a white lie to yourself...great stuff. there are two very differing views of how the world should be ....collectivism and individualism. there is no in between. either i am here for my own sake, my own happiness, to be my own individual, or i am here for you. and the other guy. to give to the collective greater good. no matter the cost to myself. you see, i would ask, where is the line drawn? where does the ' i dont think its too much to ask' become ' ok im asking too much here'? better question....who gets to draw the line? you or him? but back to what you said.... quit trying to be ann coulter. insults dont really make you seem more intelligent. if you need to insult someone to make your ego swell i could recommend a book or two that may help. nothing i said was directed at you personally. but it does seem that what i did write struck a nerve. cheers... jason The basic principle of altruism is that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that service to others is the only justification of his existence, and that self-sacrifice is his highest moral duty, virtue and value. Do not confuse altruism with kindness, good will or respect for the rights of others. These are not primaries, but consequences, which, in fact, altruism makes impossible. The irreducible primary of altruism, the basic absolute, is self-sacrifice - which means: self-immolation, self-abnegation, self-denial, self-destruction - which means: the self as a standard of evil... -- Ayn Rand, "Faith and Force: The Destroyers of the Modern World," Philosophy: Who Needs It |

I was at a Jayhawks show just as they were breaking up the first time...the Marc Olsen/Gary Louris configuration. Sunday night at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Gary Louris at one point came down to apologize and promised that they would be out soon. It took well over an hour before they did. It was a great show, but they broke up just after that. Fortunately, Louris re-formed the band without Marc Olsen and they made a few terrific albums after that. It was a different band, though.
One of Damien's techniques is to hold back a musical element until the most emotionally powerful moment possible. He builds suspense by keeping the drums or the cello at bay. Lisa was part of that, as she often provided fills or harmonies at just the right point to push a song into a whole other dimension. He won't have that anymore. I saw him perform in Santa Barbara at the Sings Like Hell. It was just Damien and it was good...but not Henry Fonda or the Troubadour, not by a long shot. I can still hear Lisa's voice, almost note for note, in my memory as she sang on Eskimo. |

What do you think it means that the rest of the band is sticking with Damien and not leaving with Lisa?

Alison Curtis made a comment on Today FM this morning regarding Lisa having spend so long working with DR and the official statment did not even thank her for her contribution.
I wonder if its an exit strategy? a) Alienate the fans - fart on the tube comment etc. b) Alienate the press - few interviews etc. after 9 was released c) Alienate the band - whatever went on behind closed doors that caused the rift. Maybe Spain is looking very good to him right now? I have a foreboding feeling about Marlay Park......... maybe I'm wrong but I don't think its his style to do a headliner in a field in Ireland, maybe making a right mess of it is the ulitimate two fingers to whoever he is pulling against. I also thought the "Sacked" headline in one of the Sunday newspapers was a bit rough, but thats the red tops for ya. |

well, what does it mean:
"Band update - 25 Mar 2007 After much thought and discussion Damien has decided that his professional relationship with Lisa Hannigan has run its creative course." did he throw her out? :O sounds like there really was a big bang. |

nope just a bored "official"
I can only recall two other communiques - one which I never understood (amateur hour in luzern) and one where I agreed the KKL was an awesome venue but the show itself was a tad lacking......if two posts constitute stalking then uh huh |

What's a bored official?
The amatuer hour was because that is what you yelled at gray "we will take amatuer hour" and then you sent the strange message to me which I was remiss in responding to. Whatever dude you're strange, and from the comments on dr.com message board I'm not the only one who thinks so. Over and out. |

wow you sure have very specific memories of my shenanigans of over TWO and a HALF years ago.........perhaps we are two peas in the strange pod! lol
and I love the high school tactic of I'm not the only one who thinks so..........when are you people going to comprehend that I could give a rats #$% what you think about me.......but just to be clear I have made good friends here, on dr.com, on davidgray.com and elsewhere - seeing some tomorrow as a matter of fact at the band of annuals gig in vegas........so there! over and out |
