Hi again. My posts are necessarily few and far between these days...so yes I miss the easy life in Boston Ang! Congrats on that milestone...you too Katinka...and anyone else I've left out!
Even though I'm almost an IT graduate, I don't have a clue what you're talking about with the FTP. I do know what it stands for, but other than that....! Yeah I'm back in Cork Dave. I'm too busy to enjoy it between work and college. I've only seen Paddy Casey in UCC since I've been back. Was supposed to go to the Frames next week but that fell thru. P.S. My last post should have said "I WOULDN'T have seen myself as an oldie" just in case anyone was confused!

Fred, well we all consider you to be an oldie Yeah the Paddy gig was good in UCC alright, it's sh*te that his gig next week has been cancelled....I'm gutted...hopefully all the rest of the gigs coming up should make up for it and he did say that he'd play in Cork in January to make up for it.....take it easy with all that work and college stuff..later
BTW: Has anyone seen anything of BennyHuggel of late? |

Dave, last time Benny was here he said he had some important school work to do.
Paudie, you can now log on to either Mario's 24.193.247.136 Damien:Rice or Tony's damienrice.serveftp.net damien:rice (PASV off) ftp server to download Damien's music. Several complete gigs on there, all videos and various other stuff. They are busy a lot, so patience & redial is a must. P.S. When will you be graduating? |

Ahh not graduating till next year(if I pass exams), but you'd think I'd know what to do with these anyway, wouldn't you??
24.193.247.136 Damien:Rice damienrice.serveftp.net damien:rice ....but sadly, I don't! Do I go in through the command window?

well you could just use a internet window and as the address type
ftp://damien@24.193.247.136 or ftp://damien@damienrice.serveftp.net and it'll then ask for the password, which is rice for the both of them or alterantively you can go through a command prompt, just type ftp, then open damienrice.serveftp.net or open 24.193.247.136 and then it'll ask for username, which is damien and password which is rice.....blah blah, etc. |

It's easiest if you just use dedicated ftp client. First, you can set up the re-dialing, and also it's much easier to navigate around the remote server and drag and drop files.
I need the SFTP (secure FTP) protocol to log on to my uni account, so I use FileZilla: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ which isn't a commonly used program. But I'm actually very happy with it and it's free. It does regular FTP also, of course. Have a look at the screen shot there. Left is your computer, right is the remote one, bottom your download queue. A dedicated client is also generally faster than the browser interface. Paudie, that is so sad. They don't teach you how to use ftp? You should switch degrees! |
