Default What's Damo say at the end of Cold Water?

Just as the title says, what does Damo say at the end of Cold Water? It's something like "Byour gi gi goda?" Maybe I dunno...any help?

Wow, that's weird...I rarely listen to cold water, is far from being one of my favourites, but this morning I listened to the El rey version and (besides the fact that I've quite changed my mind about this song) I asked myself the same question...actually thought of it for a while this morning

If you play it backwards you'll hear a really corking recipe for lentil soup.

Sureley you must like the El Rey performance of Cold Water. Of all the times I've seen Damo, that's by far my favorite Cold Water version. In fact one of my favorite Damo moments period. The way it keeps building and building and building and building and building and... Vyv's Cello on top of Damo's reverb Lisa's voice Tomo's cymbals it's incredible.

I don't know if it's just me, but towards the end of the build up when Damo is just yelling at the top of his lungs it almost sounds like some "Dark Side of the Moon" track Pink Floyd might have been playing in an arena.

I'm telling you - pour yourself a glass of red wine - PUT ON HEADPHONES - turn off the lights - and turn up the volume - Coldwater is just so much better live than on the album - and as much as I like "Halleluja," I much prefer this ending.

After he left the stage and only the reverb of "Lord - Am I Lost.." lingered over and overed I was just flabbergasted - as people started filing out I wasn't even able to move - awesome.

I think Coldwater will grow on you man.

I love all the versions of Cold Water!!! the album version is amazing, the EL REY one too...

But wait til you hear the one they did the other day in Oakland!!!! I really hope someone taped it... It was 20 min long and Damien did a bit of Sleep don't weep in the middle and everything ended with Hallelujah sung w/o micro at the very edge of the stage!!!!!

I think Cold Water is Damien's best song. You know, these songs when they say almost nothing but the emotion is so present that you can cry only by hearing a few words.

Like the "if I could be who you wanted" at the end of Fake Plastic Trees... I've listened to this song so many times only because of these few words.

Cold water surrounds me now and all I've got is your hand. Splendid.

Yep, the lyrics are amazing, I also like the Can you hear me now or am I LOST!!!

I never understood completely the One's Daughter line (Love One's Daughter/Allow me That), does "one" refer to God/Lord??

i think it's like giving it like a commandment, biblical

"Love one's daughter"

like one, meaning "someone" like the hypothetical "you"

sometimes you can get sad listening to damien rice

sometimes one can get sad listening to damien rice

i think it means one as in someone's but nobody in particular.

to eat ones food
to shave ones buttocks
to love one's daughter

Default At the El Rey

I was there at the El Rey, and I thought he was saying "I'm yelling at you." I was right up against the stage so it was less distorted coming out of his mouth than the recording next to the speaker. But that would be my best guess.

I'm confused now... in the lyrics section here it says 'Love one's daughter', but at damienrice.com it says 'No one's daughter'...

cold water is just amazing live and especially on piano - by the end of the song everyone in the audience is just like in a trance. Best Damo memory was a special small gig in Dublin he did for the Tsunami aid fund at the start of January 2005 just after the disaster. He finished off the concert by turning off all the lights and singing Cold Water and the whole crowd just fell silent in kind of respect for the people who died as the first few lines of the song were so fitting to the reality. Ever since that i've loved the song and its always been so much more emotional

If there was only one song I could hear for the rest of my life (god forbid) it would be Cold Water.

I was there too in the front row and I am listening to it now. If i remember right he was mixing various sounds and slowly words were being said as the intensity went up. I could have swore he was saying "let me go, let me go" at the end, but the "love ya or leave ya" sure sounds close.

Tough one.
