Did anyone watch Live Earth?
Looks like Damien already played!!!!! Just read it on NME.com; I thought I could catch it but I missed it... he played around 3pm UK time...
David Gray and Damian Rice team-up at Live Earth Songwriters duet at Wembley Stadium 4 minutes ago Damian Rice and David Gray have played a joint set at Live Earth in London this afternoon (July 7). The songwriters played their own songs before combining for a duet on a special acoustic platform in front of the main stage. Gray performed his hit 'Babylon', with Rice on guitar before they swapped roles. The Irishman then played his track 'The Blower's Daughter', with Gray providing the backing. The pair then picked classic song 'Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)' by songwriters Jay Livingston and Ray Evans to close their short set. "It's three o'clock, it's Wembley Stadium there's only one song we can do for our cover version," declared Gray. "It has to be this, I want to hear that old Wembley roar, come on!" |

i woke up just in time to catch the end of the blower's daughter. i recorded the duet off msn so will try to upload it. i'm watching it on bravo now which is much better quality, and it's kind of delayed from the internet feed so if they replay it i'll try to catch the whole set.

yeah i watched it there. i thought they were both great. damien is a really good accompanist and the blowers daughter went down i treat i thought.
they had a close up of jamie lee curtis singing along which i funnily found very amusing. que sera kinda worked. i could see noel gallagher having a laugh at it but at least it had some point about it rather than the rest just singing their hits and getting off its all downhill from here tho

I think it was lovely!
And Damien changed the lyrics of his verse (the first one)... LOL... he surely didn't sing "when I was just a little girl"... :P Last edited by lalla32; 07-07-2007 at 03:18 PM. |

Umm.. my CENSORED FRICKING tv-company decided to show babylon, and then cut away to something else the second damien sang the first note of Blower's daughter. I'm so pissed off right now!

let me know if it works. i think you might have to watch it with real player and it's not a clean cut from the end of the blower's daughter into que sera sera, but there you go i might have babylon too but they cut away from the blower's daughter as soon as damien started to sing Quote:

It was absolutely fantastic - to see damo playing in front of such a huge crowd - i actually thought he looked nervous - glad they played babylon first - damo though did really get into it and did a great job.
What a dream come true to see these two - two of my absolute favorites - play together!!! Que sera was great in my opinion. Would be awesome if they got together in lucerne - damo plays on Fri and David on Sat. We will see! |

I haven't been able to catch the damo performance. I've seen David Grey like three times already, on the internet and in the Bravo broadcast but all the times they've cut Damien and the duet. I really want to see it!
If anyone does manage to upload it somewhere later i would be really interested!!! cheers! |

Wait, so you guys in the UK only have ONE station covering all the concerts??
In Canada we have about 5 of them playing the shows from London, Washington, Hamburg... and the rest. We should get the entire NYC one too when it starts. I missed Damien's set on account of... accidentally sleeping in. But all the ones I have seen, they've shown complete sets because the feed just stays on that one city. p.s. I can't play that file on anything either Melissa :s |

I was lucky enough to click on the UK live feed here http://entimg.msn.com/i/ExperienceDa...0-bd77c597c4ab
at exactly the right time. Caught all three songs. Brilliant, loved the set. Damien sounded so good, smiled a bit and hit every high note in Blowers daughter, yea? lol.. I also loved him singing back up on babylon, so cool. Cut to watching the live coverage on Sundance and they cut away right when Damien started singing. blasphemy indeed.. Thank you Melissa for the link.. cheers.

Yeah, it was fantastic! Thought Damien could have been a little more ascertive though - he seemed ever so slightly shy. It was probably just nerves.
