If I called my band Eskimo Friends - what do you think people would say? Is it a good idea?

Pretty much inspired by Damien... so we sound quite a bit like him...

You might have a problem in that some people will
expect to hear a Damien Rice tribute band. If you're planning on playing original material it might become a pain in the arse when people turn up at your gigs and start shouting to hear the blower's daughter every five minutes!

You make a good point. We are having so much trouble finding a name for the band that sticks! Any ideas?

I've never been any good at band names, I'm afraid.
When I was sixteen I played in an indie rock band and suggested to the rest of the lads that we call ourselves 'The Wheel Of Zarathusthra'! I was never allowed to make any name suggestions again....

You could always take the REM route and pick a
name at random from the dictionary. But then there's always the risk that you could end up called Paedophile or something..

Why not just "Band" or "The Banned" or something?
I actually like "The Banned"... or just "Banned"... imagine that on the cover of your album... everyone would buy it just to find out why it was banned |

I always thought Steve or Dave would be a good name for a dog. But as I've now got good friends with both of those names they just wouldn't seem to fit anymore.

how about 'The Scrumptious Muffins'? Or..... 'nipples on fire'? 'releasing eggplant'? hehe, band names are fun, just think of the most ridiculous juxtaposition possible, and make it active. viola.

Me anda friend threw a quick act together to play at a battle of the bands a few months ago... Not to actually compete, just to play while the votes were tallied. But we went under the name of "Endless Ninja." I thought that was pretty sweet. A friend of mine makes a hobby out of creating bandnames. When we found out we were going to play (which was the day of the show), I just called her up and asked her to name us. So she turned to her database and hooked us up.
(To clarify, I am in two other bands that actually have real names.)

You can go to the Emo Band Name Generator here: http://members.aol.com/Valdes379/EmoGame.html hilarious. I think the name it gave me was Slipping Scooter or was it Shipping Scooter? Anyway, you guys are hilarious! I have to try not to laugh out loud while I'm at work. My friend Christy used to pretend she had a band called Big Scary Umbrella |

I've been studying the Industrial Revolution in England EVERY YEARsince I've started studying, so I'd say: "the spinning Jennies" And if you don't understand it... Well it means you've been luckier than me!

Uh oh!! We're not PC in Canada! "I look to my innuit friend...." just doesn't have the same ringto it, does it? I used to be the band-naming expert back in the day. High school bad boy band.... "Bootlegger", older guy bluegrass band.... "The Barnburners"..... and a few others that escape me now. We used to have some great local band names, too. "Ziplock and the Incredible Sandwich Boys", "House of Large Sizes", and yes Corey, we hada band called "The Freds", though every week the name would change slightly... "The Freds All Male Dance Review", "Two Freds In Paradise", etc. etc. Though I think of all the suggestions I like Wheels' the best. "Banned"!!! Hilarious!! |

I play in a band called "the state pathologists", which we like, but its really an irish joke, what about"fluffy ducky" "the benevolent dictators" or "evil puppy",we actually considered all those names, and we played a gig as "the tic tax" P.S. dont steal our name! |
