Hmm, mixed feelings about 'accidental babies'. It's still beautiful, but it sounds so
slow when you're used to the live version. And I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't have the longer piano ending (and the 'f-ck you up' bit).

how gutted am i now. i did the trick, then, feeling rather happy with myself, i clicked onto the link and then pressed play. ONLY to find that because there is a problem with WMP on my pc (something is missing, or not updated, or some bad code, i don't know), it STILL won't let me listen to it!
i'm going to have to wait until UNI tomorrow. even then, i won't be able to use the pc's. oh man, this sucks! |

but time is contagious...everyone's getting old....
and carvin... as far as him going out of key in every song...who cares... thats the rawness i think he likes to maintain... his most popular song is Blower's Daughter and that has one of the worst out of key moments and no one cares... but its your opinion... this cd is different and I'm trying to remember not to expect 'O' round 2 or to make it impossible for myself to like it... with that said... animals were gone and pretty much everything else has its fine points and i like it a lot. something i can put in the car and my mom wont yell at me for putting her to sleep. ill just put on rootless tree and wake her up haha, jk |

I've been scanning this forum for a long time, waiting for 9.
I've not been disappointed. A beautiful album that's happier than O in places and more heartbreaking than O in others. Damien Rice's music just suits me and I, it. I love this new album. |

hahah this presented me with a moral conflict too. Decided to hear a "tester track" to see how the live to Studio transition sounded, so I picked Yoke, because I quite like that one, not as much as Dogs, but I didn't want to ruin it because it reminds me of someone (And I bought the album for that special someone). Then the internet spazzed out and kept cutting out, so In the end I got annoyed with inferior technology. I'm also annoyed at everyone gushing about it. I'm just going to wait it out. It's what people did before the internet, and I haven't been this excited for a record for ages.

Now I have listen the complete CD. And this is an amazing Album.
Every single track ist Wonderfull. Really. My Favorite song ist Accidental Babies. I must cry if I listen this song!! The only thing that annoys me a little bit is that Rootless Tree is not as powerful like the Live Version. But this makes no difference. Thank you Damien for this great, lovely and amazing Music. Thanks AB for finding a solution. I too love the album. One thing that popped out at me was the electic guitar that chimes in about midway through grey room. To me added a ton to the song

I just listened to it, and somewhat agree that at times, song of the songs semi-lack that real deep personal emotional depth, that tracks on "O" had. When you listen to those tracks, you could feel them in your core. With "9," some of the tracks DEFINITELY do that, but some of them don't......maybe I'll have to have another listen or more, since this is a first listen. However.....
9 Crimes, Animals Were Gone, Elephant, Rootless Tree, Me-My Yoke- and I, and Accidental Babies, are my favorite tracks. 9 Crimes, Animals Were Gone, and Accidental Babies are my Top 3 right now. I think the album though would have definitely benefitted by having "Then Go" on it. It was one of my favorite new live tracks, and was hoping it would've been on the album. Still, it's a GREAT album, and I can't wait to go out and get it. Last edited by HOBBE5; 10-23-2006 at 07:55 PM. |

You must give time to the album. Time to develop.
Thus it was also with O. |

some great songs on there, no doubt But it's not yet blowing me away like 'O' did. About Accidental Babies: I was immediately in love with the live version(s), they sounded so pure. My problem with the studio recording is that I'm not really feeling it. And trust me, I so hate to say that. Maybe my anticipation for that song was a bit too high. Elephant, though I already had that one, is still a great song, as is 'Animals' (which is starting to grow on me). I've started to appreciate 9 crimes more as well while listening to the song in the context of the album. Furthermore: Grey Room and Sleep don't Weep, although it starts out a bit like Cold Water (or is that just me), is also nice. I love the mellow ending with Lisa.
