Trusty & True. What do you think of the new song?
Thank you Culliem for recording and uploading I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it. It's a nice, fine little tune. But I in no way love it. Yet. |

Too soon to tell...
At the moment I totally love it, but mainly because it's a new song, because it's different and because I was there, I think. It's very beautiful, but maybe not dark enough to be one of my favourite songs. Although I love that the song sounds so typically Irish and it fits perfectly with the lyrics. -- Scratch that! I don’t care that it’s not dark and twisted. (I’m actually glad it isn’t…) It’s very uplifting. if you keep playing it, it’s almost like a mantra Last edited by carrroline; 07-31-2013 at 02:43 PM. |

It seems to be working now, unless it's a regional thing..
It is very Irish sounding, that's kind of new. I feel like Damien usually avoids that kind of overtly celtic/trad sound for some reason,, though there's an undercurrent in everything he writes (can't be helped I suppose, him being Irish and all). I like it. Good singalong. |

I still really love this song... makes me smile everytime.
If you're a perfectionist and you get worked up about all kinds of mistakes that you made in the past, it's strangely comforting. So, thanks, Damien, and sorry about downloading and listening to unreleased songs, that's probably not the best way to say 'thank you' |

I quite like it.
I think it sounds very Damien, a simple acoustic pop song with depths.

I adore this. Another instant classic. I'm always struck by how boundlessly joyful Damo can be in crowd sing-alongs like these since he's so equally brilliant at conveying that solitude of deep pain and longing.
Trusty and True We've wanted to be Trusty and true. But feathers fell from Our wings. We've wanted to be Worthy of you. But weather rained on Our dreams. And we can't take back What is done, what is past. So, fellas: lay down Your fears. 'Cause we can't take back What is done, what is past. So, let us Start from here. 'Cause we never wanted to be Lusty or lewd. Nor withered to prudish strings. We never wanted to be Jealously tuned. Nor withered into ugly things. But we can't take back What is done, what is past. So, fellas: lay down Your spears. 'Cause we can't take back What is done, what is past So let us start from here. And if all that you are Is not all you desire: Then, come... Come: let yourself be wrong. Come, it's already begun! (repeat a lot) Come. Come along! Come with fear. Come with love. Come however you are. Just come... Come along! Come with friends. Come with foes. Come however you are. Just come... Come. Come along! Come with ease. Bend with hope. Come however you are. Just come... Come. Come along! Come with fear. Come with love. Come however you are. Just come... Come! Come along! Come with fear. Come with love. Come however you are. Just come... Come along! Come with yourself. Just come on! Come however you are. What is done? What is past? So: let us start From here.

Yes, for the first time in a while I actually find myself moved by a Damien lyric, quite lovely.
Also, apparently he just wants everybody to COME. That's sexy

Thanks for the lyric transcription, Douglas.
I had a dream about Damien last night. We were spelunking in that cave in Norway where he performed once. I woke up and immediately started laughing, it was funny. |

thanks Spamlet for the lyrics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The day after the gig we spent ages with Glo trying to figure out those lyrics but it was too difficult for us being non-English speakers!!!!!!
even during the gig I misunderstood the lyrics and kept singing Don't Let Yourself Be Wrong hahaha Love the lyrics but I still prefer his more personal stuff, like at the end of Bastard when he sings "Please don't let un you don't know me, please don't let on I'm not here, Please don't let un you don't love me, I know you do, I know you do,... SOMEWHERE", kills me everytime!!!!

two good videos from LA:
whole song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfC8eUICpBw final part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFWXK6e0kSI I think he has added this part, and also the ending is different from Luzern: Come… Come along... Come with sorrows and songs… Come however you are… Just come… |

I think this one is definitely a grower, and will be pretty powerful live due to the sing along ending!

i'm glad i hadn't heard the original recording last year, as i don't like it much, but i am obsessed with the LA version.
also, i thought he was saying "come, come alone" rather than "come, come along". |

First time I heard this song was 10/18/14 @ The Box in NYC. I liked it and enjoyed the audience sing-along at the end. My daughter will upload it to her youtube channel shortly.

I also liked the story he told before the song, saying it was about many things Ireland, catholics/protestants, men/women, he told the story of a mercedes they spotted in town when they were kids so they thought it had to be a protestant car cos catholics donīt have money, lets scratch it
EDIT: video with story

The "Come let yourself be wrong" -part is hard to hear on the album version. It's a little sad. I really love the version with the audience.
