I really like it. Thank you both for sharing it. My dad pre-ordered the album for me for my birthday so I don't get any of the follow-up emails regarding the purchase. That's a great little song. I actually thought about Mario during it, cause it seems more up his alley. Mario, what say you?

There are quite a few lines I'm not sure about, so feel free to make changes:

You’re not on my mind
You know that’s a lie
But I have been overthinking again
But not ‘cause of you
You know that’s not true
Nothing I’m saying makes sense
I’m not losing faith
I just don’t relate
Don’t do so well with waiting around
So just let me know
Do I hold or let go?
Please do something

‘Cause all I hear are your camarillas
Compliment the nonsense you’re…
Colour in the fields (?)
Rub you on with …

But they don’t care
That’s not fair
I am aware
I’ve punched up your private parties and more
Here I go again
Kissing your friends
You’ve done the same
But that’s in the past
There’s no one to ask
How long this will last
I’ve shaved the silence
But it keeps growing back
So let it grow a beard
And everyone cheers
‘Cause freedom is wild
And it means … but

Your camarillas
Compliment the nonsense you’re …
And colour in the fields (?)
Rub you on with …

I don’t mean to be rude
I’m not in a mood
And even if I was
Surely that’s only human
Better let it out
A quick scream and shout
Maybe that’s just how we’re different

Kissing your friends -- I actually think he says 'dissing' , which fits with the title of the song. It seems someone's friends are advising whoever that someone is against Damien in some way...

I noticed a couple of things.

Oh boy! I love the edge. Definitely not as much self-reflection as the rest of the album, but I love this other side too.

Thank you for sharing and the help deciphering the lyrics. I'm not sure what I hear yet.

Is "camarillas" commonly used in regular speech in Europe? It seems like such an obscure term.

Not used at all, it's Spanish and I kinda know the meaning (group of advisers) but sure i've never used the word, it's like Spanish from the 15th century to me a king or queen would have a camarilla, but I think I know the term from old movies

it´s very specific also... something to do with authorities (especially of a nation). i suppose he uses it as a sort of figure word.

i do love the song! somehow it reminds me how different were the b-sides for o, such as lonelily and moody mooday (two of my fav!).

I've read some definitions online, and they say it is like cronyism, which definitely has a negative connotation in the US.

i´m not sure if it´s quite the same... it´s more like surreptitious influence on authorities (spanish meaning), which makes more sense to me... but i don´t know the way damien used it.

In this song I understand it as a figure of speech meaning friends giving well meant but terrible advise

I like it a lot! Especially the verses, chorus has to grow. Sounds very Damien-like but evolved, more than the album. Wished the album was more like this. Music sounds more like a "band", with the drums coming to the front.

Love it!!! The strings are so good. And slightly jazzy too! Can't understand the words from the chorus either.

I think it's actually "you're needed" and the last line of the chorus is "rub you raw with rawer love". Not exactly sure on the other iffy word. At first it sounds like fillers/feelers but the second time in seems more like village/villains?

I think it's compliment/complement the nonsense you're knitting.and the last line seems to be "rub you off with other love"-- could be raw thing that spamlet said too. And it's colour in the fillers I think.

^ I heard 'knitting' as well. If that is the lyric, it seems like a reference to Sea Sew?

Yes, indeed it is. I thought the song is about her (could be wrong). And if it is, it's fairly revealing. And would also probably be quite offensive to the person being addressed.

Ah, heard it many times (love love the strings and drums), pretty sure it's rub you raw with a rubber love.

Camarillas - were a circle of royal councillors who had no power but to protect / advise the king and / or queen.

He's referring to someone's inner circle who won't let him near them, even though he's crashing her private parties he can't get to her.
