i totally think it's wrong to judge anyone on their musical tastes, it's something which seems to happen the whole time. If a girl didn't like damien rice, or she was someone who only liked music she could party to, that's her choice and it doesn't mean she has bad taste, only different taste. However i really would like it if i could relate to her musically and play the music i like when with her, but that'd just be a bonus. To be honest if i would refuse to be with someone who doesn't like damien rice, it would mean that i'd be the same for any other artists which i have equal respect for. And they're all so different to eachother that i'd NEVER find a girl who could match them all and i'd be ultimately doomed!

personally, i think breaking up with someone because he/she doesn't like damien rice (or any other musician you like) is absolutly ridiculous. my husband isn't into damien at all and there is alot of music he likes that i;m not too crazy about but we've been together for 8 years and are perfectly happy. i think it would get quite boring if we both loved the exact same things. plus, it isn't really a shared interst in music that makes me love him (although there are alot of artists that we both like) it's the fact that he's willing to go with me to a damien rice concert and not utter one complaint no matter how much he dislikes it because he knows how much i do.

My god, my bf hates most of the bands I like. Damien Rice - winey twat with no balls, U2- oooh Bono is gay with the edge everynight... and so on. I think we should break up *nods*

I just burnt 2 CDs full of Damien Rice for the guy I'm interested in. He gave me some Tom Waits. I guess we're both auditioning each other. I'll let you know what happens if he decides he hates it! By the way, Tom Waits rocks!

About that bono and edge remark (not that it was bono or the edge, just the context of and source of the insult), I probably would break up with him. After I give him an earful about using the term gay like that.

Oh yeah, Tom Waits is great.

I've always said that all the girl that I am dating has to do is to appreciate and accept my love for an artist.

I wouldn't break up with a girl because she didn't like a band or performing artist that I like, but I would break up with her if she couldn't accept my interest in the artist.

hi UNO , i see you are from portmarnock and i am from the US but I noticed that Guggenheim Grotto has a song which you probably know about called Portmarnock Beach Boy Blue, just wondering what the place is like and where it is. I'm too lazy to google it and plus why not get a first hand account. Worth visiting when I make my way east?

well portmarnock is a town 6 miles north of Dublin, not too big. Has a 3 km long beach. That's pretty much it. Oh yeah and Tomangoes, the worst nightclub ever.

Nope, the other way round. I'd probably dump a girl for only liking DR. How boring would it be to hear Damien Rice in the house all the time, allah almighty.

I don't know The Raveonettes yet or The New York Dolls or whoelse, so me and one of those girls could have a chance.

...

Agree with Jacob.

I mean, just because you listen to Damien Rice or love him doesn't neccessarily make you a good person. There are loads of people out there who adore Damien but whose characters you could wipe the floor with. That goes with anything else in life.

there is no need to be rude to someone for using a term that offends many people and would offend you if you were in the same position. no one is getting mad and making remarks back... just asking not to say something that offends another person. if that is too much to ask and you have to make smart a** remarks about it then go hang out on 50cents message board. the igloo isn't a place to hate. everyone just relax and don't say things to offend someone on purpose.
