New Hope for Aung San Suu Kyi?
According to Thialand's Foreign Minister, talks with Myanmar government hinted at the possible release of Aung San Suu Kyi, after her house arrest was extended for another year.
link to full story let's hope this is true! then again, why would the Myanmar government say something to the effect of "[they] are looking for a way to release her"? Why not just 'do it'?!

I lived in Thailand for 6 years, and the Thai goverment is full of sh*t (pardon my French, and pardon to all you Frenchmen).
Thailand is one of the main reasons that the junta in Burma has been able to stay in power. The junta is propped up mostly by Thailand and China, with some assistance by several French, British, and American corporations. I was in Burma about a month ago and no one believes the piddle of the Thai and Burmese authorities. The junta is known for their expertise in hollow promises. They have hinted or bluntly stated that her house arrest will only be extended for "one more year" for the past 7 years. I want Aung San Suu Kyi to be freed, and Burma to have democracy, more than anything in the world, but you can't trust the annual lies of the brutal junta, or the acrid rhetoric of the Thai government. The only ways in which democracy can be instated in Burma are: 1) The junta decides to hand over power to Suu Kyi; 2) Several generals, knowing they will win the support of the international community and the Burmese people, stage a coup d'état against the other junta members and establish a democracy; 3) America and Britain remove the junta, like they removed Sadam in Iraq.

^ Burma is loaded with oil....The junta signed a milti-billion dollar deal with American oil giant ConocoPhillips and a French oil company.
