Insane = Closer ?
Some time ago I read that Damien had written a song especially for the Closer soundtrack, which was not included in the end (although TBD and Cold water were included).
Since Insane features the words Closer in the lyrics... I was wondering if it could be the same song? |

No, it isn't. I think everyone who heard that song is currently trying to forget it.
If nothing else it proved that we all make mistakes from time to time.

would this be the song that was titled "closer"? The on for which I've only heard on a bootleg of the katrina support show? Cause I realy liked that song. Honestly, all of the new random stuff he's been releasing has bored me to tears. The accidental babies, the steal a mule and unplayed piano and that lot.....yeah....sorry, bored me. "closer".....good song that went somewhere and had a good groove.

hey matt, yep that would be the one.. it's actually called "closer" and was written for the strip scene sequence of the film (maybe that's where the groove came from ) the show it was on was recorded at the asian tsunami benefit in dublin last january though, not katrina..
it's not one of my favorites, but it's grown on me Last edited by SisterMidnight; 07-27-2006 at 04:51 AM. |

yeah yeah, katrina, tsunami. same difference. All the natural disasters kind melt together in my head. I knew it was the tsunami, it just got lost in the thought process somewhere.

If I ever hear of him playing that song again, I think I'll just have to start firebombing. It was the cheesiest thing i've ever heard in my life.
A f*cking natural disaster in itself.

No, the cheesiest thing existing might be more like the reason - hoobastank. Or fall to peices - velvet revolver. Or all of 80's rock. Cheez wiz

Hmm.
I honestly neither hate that song nor love it. It does have a decent groove but I'd say those lyrics were appropriately cheezy like all hit dance/strip club songs. So ya gotta keep in mind that Damo's deliberately making fun of that kind of shallow "a good beat is all you need" type of songwriting. Curious anyone would say that song "goes somewhere" and something like "Accidental Babies", which I'm convinced he also wrote for that film (check those lyrics and notice the similarity to the actual dialogue) doesn't. Sounds like Hyde just has a bias against ballads or slow songs in general. P.S. Yes, Hoobastank sucks but c'mon "Fall to Pieces" was easily Velvet Revolver's best tune- it's their rockers which are really embarrassing! Personally, I'm a sucker for most all 80's rock but then, I freely admit, that was definitely what I grew up on.

is there any chance i could get that song too sistermidnight? that is if you are refering to "closer" and assuming "closer" is different than "insane" cause i'm confused from this thread lol. but if what you have is different than insane and you are able to send it to me i'd really appreciate, but if it will take to long with your internet don't worry about it!

but if not, i would LOVE love love it if someone would be so nicely as to send it to me...

haha... it's a great song!
(ok, not great, but definitely not terrible either) It's funky... and he sounds sexy no matter what he does so... well, I guess I'm just a little incapable of being objective. |

I tried to use itunes to "fix" the sound... wasn't entirely successful, but I think I managed to make it loud enough to get down all of the lyrics. I want you closer I want you closer I want you in my dirty hands I want to touch you in your body, gonna let your baby, down I want you every night I please Want you to bend, want you to tease Want you to take me down on your knees Wanna let your baby down And you can take me higher in your zone If you tell me your name, I'll take you home And you can take my pain, I've got loads I wanna let your baby down. (Lisa's verse) I want you to take me closer I want you to make me suffer I want you to wear me out, no I'll let you down (??) I'll let your baby down And you can take me out, all night long And you can turn my stones into gold If you tell me your real name, I'll take you home I wanna let your baby down Yeah, you can take me out, all night long And you can take my pain, cos I've got loads If you tell me your real name, I'll take you home I wanna let your baby down I want you closer I want you in my dirty hands (you're gonna let your baby down) Want you to let me in your body (you're gonna let your baby down) I want you every night I please Want you to bend, want you to tease Want you to take me down on your knees You can take me out, all night long And you can turn my stones, into gold And if you tell me your real name, I'll take you home I wanna let your baby... I wanna let you Make me out, all night long And you can turn my pain into gold Yeah, if you tell me your real name, I'll take you home I wanna let your baby... I wanna let your baby... I wanna let your baby... I wanna let your baby... |

Thanks Pink and Srah...if he wrote this song for the stripclub scene in Closer, then the lyrics make total sense.. I still like the feel of the song, its not my favourite but it's cool...
