Such a strange project, what's it all about other than these people/bands being from the same nation?

a personal project, maybe, by someone who was fascinated for irish music and their artists? this is what the producer said:

Quote:
"For such a small country to produce such amazing talent and the way their music defines the people is just extraordinary," Young (producer) says. "It has fascinated me for most of my life and is something I wanted more people to be in tune with."

The Irish artists sure have a lot of good-will from the kids, I've noticed - and maybe this is one of the reasons why there are so many good Irish acts? That and the fooking weather there. Who wouldn't wanna write a really good blues when living there?

And a very alive folk music tradition - a folk music tradition probably which, along with african music, gave birth to rock n roll in the first place.

Listened to the full song. On the "how impressed am I" scale that goes from James Blunt up to Freddie Mercury, it gets a Coldplay, just at the halfway mark.

I do hate harps.

I would grade it higher, but your scale made me laugh.

in fact, i love it so much i bought it twice. once for me and again for a friend in europe who can't purchase it (yet). since it's the only thing damien has released since 2006 that wasn't for charity i felt like i should actually buy it, since it's how he makes a living and all...

I sense a little that Damien is somewhat like I in regards to the way his mind seems to race from subject to subject. In a creative this causes the "work product" to come out in a similarly eclectic manner especially when he has to release an album for a ton of people that are seeking inspiration in his beautiful words.

The story of the albums and Lisa and Damien's musical career closely reflect a lot of sentiment to me in regards to my own life and delicate relationships. I, personally, am glad to see Damien doing the same thing I am trying to do in that he is making his music however he pleases, and doing what he wants while not letting the fans that don't like the new direction get him down.

I think the lyrics to his new songs are brilliant, I would love to see a few more happy songs like Dogs but it's obviously ultimately up to Damien! That's how I feel it should be for any musician.

Sorry, just thought I'd rant a little.

I disagree, give me more depressing songs...perhaps 10 versions of Cold Water , eskimo, or Baby sister ...

I get "Baby Sister" but what's so depressing about "Cold Water" or "Eskimo"? Aren't they both about realizing you aren't actually alone and drawing inspiration to go on from that fact?

^Agreed. Those songs are about hope in desperate situations. And Cold Water and other songs of his have been hope in themselves for me at times.

also many Damien songs have a little twist in the lyrics at the end, so the song finishes with some ultimate feeling of hope... like for instance The Blower's Daughter, all the song is like if he's still stuck with her and will never get over her and re-conduct his life... but then at the end he sings 'til I find somebody new' = there's hope

I think it's slightly 'I remember' style towards the end. It's a grower.

Dogs is happy to you? not to me. it may be kinda upbeat sounding, but the words aren't happy. (at least in my opinion.)
