I really liked the new stuff. Similar style to the first album which I still love.

And the band are all still such lovely, warm, generous people... mega bonus points for that!

And yeah John Smith (who opens the show and plays in the band!) is really good too.

Actually thinking back there were a few higher tempo songs that go us dancing too... :-)

For those who need to see something, I found a video of Lille from the show. Old song, so I'm sure no problem linking.

The shhh's at the start reminded me that there was a bit of chatter at the far end of the venue which was a little irritating once or twice... but still loved the show :-)

I should say this is extra slow and sad because it was dedicated to a neighbour of the venue who had passed away that morning.

BODY & SOUL FESTIVAL 2011

The Body&Soul Festival exploded on to the summer scene in 2010 with its inaugural weekend in Ballinlough Castle, Co. Westmeath. With equal attention given to the trademark colourful nooks and crannies, as to the line up itself, the sold-out event was a knockout success, and won both "Best New Festival 2010" and the "Social Responsibility Award" at the 2010 Irish Festival Awards.

This JUNE 2011, the intimate Other-World of Body&Soul will be returning to the labyrinth of stone-walled gardens, winding pathways and woodlands at Ballinlough Castle: with the same smattering of magic and mischief in a weekend, packed with an eclectic mix of live electronic and acoustic acts, holistic arts, green crafts, a secluded Soul Kids garden, art installations and bubbling hot tubs in the forest.

The weekend will also feature Body&Soul's flamboyant Saturday Night Masquerade Ball - now an annual event, where revellers are invited to slip in to costume, don a mask, and dance incognito, under the stars.

LINE UP

Fat Freddy's Drop - Lee Scratch Perry - Nicolas Jaar - Toro Y Moi - Lamb - Plaid (Live Set) - LISA HANNIGAN - Delorean - Joris Voorn - Alex Wilner aka The Field - Brandt Brauer Frick - Mount Kimbie - Toby Kaar - Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts - Darkstar - Holy **** - The Correspondents - Don Letts - Arborea - The Jimmy Cake - Cloud Castle Lake - James Copeland - Lisa O'Neill - Pete Lawrie - Sian - Tulla Ceili Band - Parish - Daithi

I just saw the show at Roisin Dubh last night. Security are making sure no one films it and they are right to do so. She's playing the whole new album. It was AMAZING! She even played Teeth...How did she know which songs I wanted to hear?? I have never heard her sing so fully either. Gavin was saying this album has a lot more Lisa. try to stay after if you go. Maybe you'll end up sharing a pint with the band and talk about really random things.

Lisa is so funny. She was so clumsy, hit her head on the mic and forgot to plug in her guitar and tried to start a song. What was she so nervous for??? I nearly fainted in her very presence

Yeah, the new snippets sounded great, though I'm not crazy about the added instrumentation in "Passenger". I see her on the 26th and I'm bouncing with excitement... !!!

Thanks for sharing, ko210!
Though I wonder how the guy who posted it on youtube was able to film the entire gig (as it seems) as someone said before that the security makes sure that nobody does... Maybe we are the few lucky ones who were able to watch it before it'll be taken down or set to private...
Nevermind, this is a really great clip and the bits of the new material sound amazing and as far as I am concerned, I really like the new version of Passenger, even though it's very country... Still beautiful, and DAMN I can't wait for the new album to come out!!!

Went to the show in Boston last night, and it was so much fun! Lisa has certainly found her footing as a performer, and the band is very together. Last time I saw them was about a year and a half ago, and the songs moved slowly and she was very timid. Last night, she was quite chatty, interacted with the crowd, and just seemed like she had really grown into herself. No awkward, uncomfortable moments - not even with her "ladylike dabbing" of sweat.

The new songs sound GREAT. If the ocean was all over 'Sea Sew', then rocks/stones and the idea of being buried will probably be the theme of 'Passenger'. Pretty much every song made reference to one, the other, or both.

I'm glad I have the chance to listen back, because I don't think the line "Don't dabble on heights on caffeine - like you always say: 'safe travels, don'e die'" from 'Safe Travels' will ever lose its charm.

Still not sold on the added instrumentation on 'Passenger, but her voice sounded beautiful.

The only old songs they played were 'Ocean and a Rock', 'Venn Diagram', 'Sea Song', 'I Don't Know', and 'Lille'. LOVED the new rockier version of 'Sea Song', led by Shane on the bass and Gavin on the electric guitar.

A couple of my favorite moments: the looks of utter delight on the entire band's faces when everyone started singing along with 'I Don't Know', and Gavin getting to the point where he dropped his head and went: "It's Lille" at a guy who kept shouting out for Lisa to play "Lilly".

Oh, and John Smith - who opened and played in her band - was great! Highly recommended.

She said the new album will be out in September, and that they'd be back in the States by October.

^ Yeah, "Knots", "Flowers", "Safe Travels, Don't Die", and "What'll I Do" were my favorite new ones. "Knots" or "What'll I Do" would each make a great lead single, too!

thanks! i´m not hooked by the new songs (yet, hehe) but i love her voice. i´m hoping for more irish leg tour by the end of the year

is it just me or she seems a bit "angry" when she sings "sea song"? nice try on (not sure if i say it right, but i do believe that "on" is english-speakers favourite preposition ) that version though.

I really like how heavy on the bass and drums the new version of 'Sea Song' is. When it's quieter/full acoustic, it doesnt really work without the strings (for me, at least).

'Flowers' was a highlight of the Allston show. It's nice to get a good angry song from her!

I like Lisa's angry side, too.
I got really excited when she said in an interview a few months ago that the new album was gonna be darker than the first one, and I think that Flowers shows that very well, and so does A Sail. The rest of the songs, those that I've heard at least, are more similar to Sea Sew, though I think that Lisa got a bit more daring as far as her lyrics and vocals are concerned.

Some of the new songs - like "What'll I Do", "Home", "O Sleep", and "Knots" - are similar to the older songs (but like if Sea Sew had matured), but the rest aren't too close to Sea Sew. Like, "Little Bird" is sad, but the lyrics have a nice sting to them.

She's definitely taking more risks in her instrumental arrangements, that's for sure. I'm really excited to hear the studio versions.
