I can see them now
The pics are lovely. I love the kindergarten pics and video. How fun. I am so glad that you were able to experience that Karla. I enjoyed seeing the studio setup too. Between the pics and your stories (Broken Doll's too) you have made us all a part of this wonderful experience. Thank you for that. I really hope that some albums come from all of this.
I totally agree with Verenita and you that he needs a comb. A free hair day. Lol.

" I made you open your wings, your legs and some other things, didn't I? I'm the greatest bastard you ever met..." wow this is a new song called The greatest bastard and when he asked which of the new songs I liked the most I said that one and asked him to release as a single and he said "don't think it will be a hit...the greatest bastard..." hahahaha
I can remember some of the songs but I was so focused in understand or figure the history behind the lyrics that I didn't get much..." some dreams are better when they end" I cant forget this...was breathtaking.

Brilliant stories! I love that dream lyric, excellent.

Though, I'd be sceptical about uploading the audio, if it is of the songs. We don't want to enrage him when he's this close -> || to coming back

No way I would record the new songs! I respect him too much to do that...they asked no cameras or mobiles at the record sessions and I did respected that and I think everyone else did.But at the city hall it was no problem. There I recorded him singing Older chests, eskimo, amie and the professor.

He says in the interview that he just wants to get back to nature. I think it'd be awesome if he would do a series of outdoor concerts in some really beautiful places. Not even necessarily outdoor venues, just in parks and on beaches and places like that.

I asked Damien to sing "woman like a man" because I see myself on that song.I wouldn't tattoo "woman like a man" then I had to think about one word that could describe me...I love that word and it doesn't have to mean a bad thing ;-)

" I have to be a b**** to get things done" and so on...

"We need a studio version of face, insane, if you leave me now, beast and beauty, you shouldn't be here, what this might is for, tongue"

____

New to this site...could someone PLEASE tell me where I can find the above-mentioned songs? Just came back from the Iceland gig and heard him mention Insane and I had never heard it before. I had always thought I was a very good fan

He's coming back to the US! No word on gigs yet, but recording will continue in NYC.

Damien Rice to Plant Trees in Reykjavík

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice is currently in Iceland to record songs for his new album in secret small-scale concerts. Recordings finished yesterday, and today Rice plans to visit a kindergarten, plant trees and discuss the environment in Reykjavík City Hall.

Reykjavík City Hall. Photo by Páll Stefánsson.

Kári Sturluson, who has helped Rice organize his Iceland trip, explained to Morgunbladid that the musician is keen on leaving something behind besides music in the cities he visits. Since he is a devoted environmentalist, he often plants trees.

Today’s program begins with a visit to the Laufásborg kindergarten. There Rice will join the children for lunch and maybe play some songs before they head over to Hljómskálagardurinn Public Park.

At the park, Rice, the kids, Mayor of Reykjavík Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir and chairman of the city’s Environment and Transport Council Gísli Marteinn Baldursson will plant trees in a so-called Laufásborg Grove.

The tree planting begins at 12:30 between Hljómskálinn concert cabin and Hringbraut. It is part of the city’s agreement with the kindergarten to increase the children’s environmental conscience. Rice and Kristjánsdóttir will serve as protectors of the grove.

At 4 pm, Rice will participate in a special nature awakening event in the City Hall along with Baldursson and Andri Snaer Magnason, the author of Dreamland. Rice will present his involvement with environmental protection and play a few songs.

“Those songs are part of a certain project, called Project G, on which Rice and his friends from the music and theater scene work together,” explained Sturluson. “An album with that material will be published next year.”

The program in the City Hall is open to everyone. Rice said he intends to make the most of his Iceland visit this year. He first came to Iceland in March 2004 to promote his album O and has since returned on many occasions both in private and public visits.

Tomorrow, Rice is leaving for New York to continue recording his new album.
