This year over 100 acts will be performing in six venues including, The Olympia Theatre, The Temple Bar Music Centre, Eamon Dorans (see www.hwch.net for details). All venues are close by so as to repeat the real community and party atmosphere that fans enjoyed at the Festival last year.

Big band names such as Idlewild, Mundy and Paddy Casey have just been added.

I think this is one of the best showcases in Ireland for bands. It's such a hard market for unsigned bands in Ireland to get recognised but i think this is one of the leading festivals that gives the bands and music lovers the chance to shine.

Tickets are EUR25 ex booking fee for the entire weekend

my boyfriend is playing in eamon dorans on the saturday so you're likely to see me there!!
i notice there's a band called the eskimo convention playing.. anything to do with anybody here?

I've been saying for years now that I will go the hwch gigs, but I'm a lazy bastard, and haven't managed it yet. I was surprised to hear that Paddy Casey etc had been added this year. It's good for the publicity of the event I suppose, but I had always thought it was for more "harder working" (i.e. unsigned) bands.

But sure, if adding a couple of bigger names to the line-up increases the status/attention of the whole thing, then it's worth it.

I can safely say I won't be going this year though, as I'll be abroad. Maybe next year...

go go go!! its soo much fun, 25 quid for all the gigs you can handle! last year i only went to two of the nights, i saw turn and bellx1 and the frames, and oodles of other bands but i cant go this year cos i'll be away. seriously go, its well worth it!

Im very confused by all this, its too much to handle!!
is there some sort of schedule where you can find out what bands are playin where?
Is there any possibility you can buy a band at the door?
