i like it too, muchly... and the way damien sings and feels the song makes me respect him even more.

and i like the words posted by the uploader:

marti, at the end of the song, he says the name of the girl (nice voice, btw). couldn´t here though.

Nice. I like the build-up in there. Classic Damien. I wish that chic would do some backing vocs instead of just sitting there in her suspenders
Edit: She sounds Norwegian or something??

He says Julia or Juliet, right? she's not Julia from Angus & Julia Stone, right?

I think the song is all kinds of amazing!!!!!!!!!! anyone tried to decipher those lyrics???????

I think it was Jennie Finch, US women's softball pitcher. She has a wicked curve.

Some of this is really hard to hear. But, I went about trying to transcribe the best I could. Here you go...

Between the question and the doubt

On an ordinary day
In an ordinary way
I have *honed the cracks of virtue for a place to lay the blame
And I have hated, I have lied
Been guilty, and denied
I’ve dismissed the ones who’ve questioned me, declaring I am right

What if I am wrong?
What if I am wrong?
I have built a wall between
What I believe and what is true
I have sacrificed the love I have for power over you

I have **** to those who disagree
And walked over the weak
I have placed a gun within the mouth of those who dare to speak

On an ordinary day
In an ordinary way
I have crushed the minds of children with extraordinary shame
And I have carried on this war
Though no one wins, an endless fight
I have claimed that God has guided me and killed to prove I’m right

What if I’m wrong?
What if I’m wrong?
What if I’m wrong?
What if I’m wrong?

Is this soul worth saving at all
‘cause if I lose my wings then surely I must fall
and *** finally say (maybe, really unclear here)

We can wrestle with tomorrow 'til tomorrow’s in the past
We could tear apart what’s beautiful to prove that nothing lasts
We can stay locked behind the door to show there’s no way out
We got lost within the space between the question and the doubt
What if we’re wrong?

And for the record, I really liked the song. But, whoever it was that sung with him was almost mechanical...robotic. And her voice did not match his at all, imho. But, perhaps she was just nervous. Might sound better on a studio version.

Here's a view from my vantage point.

The performance was great. As you can see it was unplugged and un-miced. As always Damien had a huge voice that filled up the 300 person theatre. He brought out his lowden and was quite gracious. Immediately following the performance, the movie started and he joined the audience.

Well worth the 4 hour drive.

excellent! thanks for recording.. it always amazes me how his voice can fill up a hall (even much larger ones) and in the article when it said you could hear a pin drop.. i've seen that before when no one really knew who he was and were noisy and moving around, and then as soon as he started singing they just stopped and got very still..

it's good to hear him again

ps - how was the film?

Brilliant!! Thanks for sharing that - definitely get chills listening to this, especially during that last crescendo. I always seem to forget how powerful his voice can be until a live vid like this comes along.

I'm curious about the movie too, how was it? I hope it gets a general release soon.

As for the lyrics, this is what I got:

We could wrestle with tomorrow until tomorrow's in the past
Because I have torn apart this view before to prove that nothing lasts
I have stayed locked behind this door to show there's no way out
I got lost within the space between the question and the doubt

On an ordinary day
In an ordinary way
I have combed the cracks of virtue for a place to lay the blame

What if I am wrong?
What if I am wrong?

I have built a wall between
What I believe and what is true
I have sacrificed the love I have for power over you
I have convicted those who disagree
And walked over the weak
I have placed a gun within the mouth of those who dare to speak

On an ordinary day
In an ordinary way
I have crushed the minds of children with extraordinary shame
And I have carried on this war
Though no one wins, an endless fight

What if I’m wrong?
What if I’m wrong?
What if I’m wrong?
What if I’m wrong?

Is this soul worth saving at all?
‘Cause if I lose my wings then surely I must fall
and crawl... and finally say (pretty unsure about this too)

We can wrestle with tomorrow 'til tomorrow’s in the past
We could tear apart what’s beautiful to prove that nothing lasts
We can stay locked behind the door to show there’s no way out
We got lost within the space between the question and the doubt
What if we’re wrong?

My girlfriend surprised me with tickets to this show when I was in So. Cal this weekend. I'm the happiest guy in the world right now and it was so amazing meeting Damien after the movie.

Once again, he was in top form and truly the humble troubadour we have all grown to love and admire. Damien, thank you for such an amazing experience and I honestly have the best girl in the world ; )

By the way, did anyone manage to get tabs to this song? I'd love to play it but the third chord keeps bugging me. I want to play an A minor but for some reason it just doesn't sound right.

Any ideas what that third chord may be?

the song is great indeed.. thanks for the vid and for the lyrics.. wasn't expecting them so soon.. a studio version of this song would be awesome..

about the girl part.. i think she was supposed to sing like that.. i mean, it surely isn't Lisa, but still.. the fact she's singing quite low.. i think it's part of the whole message..

can't wait to see the movie..

A minor is right on the tab, I believe. He's hammering on/off on the high E on the third fret during the chorus so it sounds a bit different. Reasonably easy song to play, it seems.

I wondering why the girl was even necessary. Do yall think he'll have a girl singing on the next album with him? I understand the purpose of backing vocals. But I wonder if he'll have someone play a big part like Lisa did in some songs.

I agree this is classical Damien Rice, which makes me happy.

The girl is suffering while singing, and in the scale of shyness she is 9/10.

I'd also love to hear a cello part, and eventually bass and drums.

* Yes, the song is played at a key moment and it's actually a studio version we heard. It's so beautiful, full of Gregorian Monk-like vocals in the beginning with a full band backing him up. And what's great is that even though there are two other composers who contributed music to this movie (Thom Yorke & Philip Glass), as soon as the song came on I knew right then that it was Damien.

* The song is not played in full but what happens is you hear the intro bars, intro verse, and then it goes into an instrumental as the people in the movie are talking. But I do believe it is played in full during the credits. As my girlfriend and I were leaving I saw Damo in the audience. It was cool to see that he actually stuck around instead of just leaving after he performed.

* I didn't hear the girl part in the studio version because I was focusing on other things at the moment (like making sure everyone in our group met up together afterwards). Also, it's tough to tell who performed the string accompaniment on the studio version but yes, the studio version is different from the live version since there's a full band and a really cool intro.

* The girl's name is Julia. I know it can sound like Juliet in the video but I truly think it's Julia.

* When I met him after the film, I immediately went up to him and shook his hand as he was seated. I then said what I wanted to say about how much he means to me and how much I love his music. He kept saying "Thank you" whenever I complimented him and was completely humble throughout the entire experience. I didn't ask him any questions about the tour or album cuz I was so absolutely star-struck ; )

It was such a great experience and the movie definitely opened my eyes to what's going on with the ruthless Chinese oppression over Tibet. Check it out if you get a chance. And yes, thank you to Fighttgfight for posting the video we have on here. The first video that Marti linked to is a nice view but the sound in the second one is much better.

Thanks ElephantMan for the link and thank you srahman24 for deciphering the lyrics. My only correction would be with the first verse where I remember him saying "Because I have torn apart what's beautiful to prove that nothing lasts" instead of "Because I have torn apart this view before to prove that nothing lasts."

I was sitting in the second row from the stage, left-hand side 3 seats from the center aisle. Damn, I can't wait to have the studio version when they release the soundtrack of this film!

well, i´ll say the idea crossed my mind, but i don´t know what to think actually. i mean, i don´t know what damien would like and i don´t know what i would like.
stealing some words from him about being honest, i´d say if he feels he needs a female voice to be as honest as he wants to be, then yes, girl is in. or maybe he just gets tired of his own voice easily, hehe. otherwise, we´ll listen to him... only to him...

oh, oh, i´m starting to rambling on. sorry

i get why you're saying this, but some songs don't sound that good anymore, without Lisa.. ( I Remember, Then Go, The Professor, 9 Crimes, Cross-Eyed Bear, Is That It My Friend, .. ) but in the same time.. The Power of Orange Knickers doesn't sound that good without Tori Amos as well ( though it's mostly Tori Amos in that song ).. so it can be anyone singing the female part, even Julia.. we still need to see what is she capable of, before we give our approvals
