Lisa's version of this song? Who did the original? Is this the Indigo Girls song, or some other song? So many questions...

It's a KRISTIN HERSH song and can be found on her solo album 'Hips And Makers'. Its very famous because its a duet with Michael Stipe.

Kristin is also the leader singer/guitarist in THROWING MUSES.

There's a version in the mp3 section (with Paul Noonan)

If I walk down this hallway, tonight,
It's too quiet,
So I Pad through the dark
and call you on the phone
Push your old numbers
and let your house ring
til I wake you ghost.
Let him walk down your hallway
it's not this quiet
slide down your receiver
sprint across the wire
follow my number
slide into my hand.

It's the blaze across my nightgown
it's the phone's ring.

I think last night
you were driving circles around me.

I can't drink this coffee
til I put you in my closet
let him shoot me down
let him call me off
I take it from his whisper
you're not that tough.

It's the blaze across my nightgown
it's the phone's ring.

You were in my dream
you were driving circles around me.

I think last night
you were driving circles around me.

You're welcome Petra

The lyrics are the same, I just figured I'd save those who asked the effort of finding them.

I think 'University' is supposed to be the best Throwing Muses album to get and 'Hips And Makers' is a good one to go for you want to hear her solo material. Great songs like Your Ghost, Beestung, Sundrops, A Loon, Me And My Charms and Cuckoo... listening to it brings me right back to that time when I first started really getting into music

If you look at the User Recommendations on Amazon they'll give you a good idea of what to listen to first.
You can read her biography on 4AD.com. There's a video stream of Your Ghosts here: QuickTime and Real Video.
