which alternate tunings do you use/like?
I prefer open d (dadf#ad) and double drop d (dadgbd)

I use open G and open E a lot for slide guitar, and drop D for a bit of chunky powerchordage.

I have been playing alot recently in DADDAD.. basically open D with the F# dropped to a D so you get that unison on the 3rd and 4th... and the same thing but up two steps... EBEEBE.. both sounds really cool for slide on songs with alot of mix of minor and major chords.. and scales are really easy to learn.. its a bit of a cheaters slide tuning i think.. Jai |

i like DADF#AD also. I found thatCat Stevens used it in "if I laugh" and ever since I've loved that tuning. It's so sweet and full.

I've been using opem E tuning a lot recently, I picked it when I learned a song called Vancouver by Jeff Buckley and I've been writing it in for a few weeks, I used to write in open G tuning and somtimes in DADDAD but tuning it down half a step. I usually play in standard drop D or tuning the whole thing down half a step...the open strings have a nice sound in that tuning! *HUGS*

Only drop D for me. I'd like to see some chord tabs for some of the tunings you guys mention, especially the DADDAD tuning.
