Someone mentioned it appeared when they loaded it to their iTunes... do you have iTunes or Zen or anything?

My EAC didnt work either but doing a search on it could be just coz the computer cd-rom drive is incapable of recording it. I tried recording the pregap track on "Even Better...Vol 2" but that came out as fuzzy noise.

As for no rewind button, could you hold down the previous button, assuming it has one?

Previous button? Is that a 'go back 10 seconds' thing? That could well work... If you mean a 'go back to previous song' button I don't think it'd work... I think it is considered part of track 1. Just back in time... *que eery music... or Back To The Future theme...

Ok, now I have a question: is there anyone out there who managed to rip the 9c demo off the cd? cause now that 9 is working on my pc, I've tried to use EAC but without success, what I get is a 7-something long track with only 3 minutes of silence and then the album version of the song...any suggestions? cause it's not downloadable from anywhere as far as I know, and having the album but being not able to listen to it (besides on my old cd player) is irritating...

I've done it, if you cant figure it out it's most likely not the fault of the program or the cd drive. The settings are complicated, and sometimes it just takes time to get these things right.

As you install it, it asks you if you need the advanced options turned on, which you do to do this, so pick yes.

When the program starts put the cd in and go to 'Drive Options' in the 'EAC' menu (or press F10), then click 'Gap Detection', and change the two fields to 'Detection Method A' and 'Secure'.

Then click the 'Action' menu and select 'Detect Gaps' (or just press F4).

After that go to the 'Action' menu again and click 'Append Gaps To Next Track'.

Then right-click on track one and in the 'Copy Selected Tracks' menu, select 'Uncompressed' (or press F5), and you'll end up with a .wav file with both versions of 9 Crimes in one file. After that you can use a basic sound editing program to seperate the two recordings and save the 9 Crimes Demo as an mp3.

Thanks

i'm having the same problem as everyone else. everything seems to work, but the .wav file that i get has 3:33 of silence, and then the normal version starts.

I bought the album legally. i would appreciate it if someone who did get this to work could send me the file in an email. PM me if you're willing. (sorry if this is against someone's rules or someone's laws)

You can buy the 9 Crimes Demo directly from iTunes, that is if you don't want to go through the hassle of having to do everything.

Eac should work. On the menu go to EAC, Filename. Change Naming scheme to "%N - %T." Then click the first track and go to Action, "copy selected tracks index-based" Two files will be created.

You might have to change the gap detection mode to "A" and "secure" under EAC, Drive Options also.

Only the American version of iTunes, I think. At least I haven't found the 9 Crimes demo on UK iTunes yet. I'll have another look in a minute.

Yes I would, but I won't... Muh ha ha ha ha ha. Nah, I'll send it to you, since you've shown us all a picture of yourself with your copy of 9, I'm fairly certain you've bought it. It's weird, the cd player in my dad's car automatically starts from the demo when you put in the cd, and you can skip to and from it. But then, it's a very nice cd player... there was much innovation.

This is one strange demo; very hard rock, so different from the studio cut!

nope like other people mentioned in this thread, my cd-rom made a 7 minute file of the hidden track and track 1, but the first half of it (where the hidden track should be) was just silence.

Maybe it's something to do with the kind of cd/dvd drive you have... some people don't seem to have much of a problem with it.

I couldn't rip the track using EAC on either my DVD-Rom or DVD+RW drives, and I've a great deal of experience using the software. I ended up using Riptastic to grab it - if memory serves, it was offered as a 30 day trial version.
