Irish pop acts Ronan Keating and Westlife have both claimed they weren't 'cool' enough to appear on the Band Aid 20 single.
Interviewed on Channel 4's "Richard & Judy Show", Keating said he understood why Bob Geldof wanted credible acts to appear on the record, but claimed his inclusion could have sold more copies.
He commented: "They're not going for pop acts. They want credible, cool acts.
"If that works, fair enough...but at the end of the day they want to make money for the cause so they should think about that."
Westlife's Nicky Byrne raised similar complaints according to an interview with the Daily Star.
Speaking to the newspaper, he said: "We couldn't compete with U2 or Coldplay but it would have been fantastic to have been part of it. We'd have given anything to be on that record."

its nothing to do with the fact of being cool or not (which yer not) but ye can't sing.Edited by: Building

i dunno.....i think there's an element in truth in what he thinks, hell, it could all be a HUUUUUGE conspiracy to wipe the planet of westlife. no but seriously, all the artists on it are pretty 'trendy', and i think westlife are better singers than busted..
yeah, i did just say that

hehe, spot on! isn't it also a weee bit erhm, shall we say uncool to complaint about not being in a charity project. i mean, if you need your image to be more 'concerned about the poor people', make your own goddamned project - i'm sure you'll sell loads of copies, and you fans will love it cause it'll reinforce their image of you as being 'good guys'...Edited by: cillecille

Brian McFadden wasnt abused in school, he was bullied out of St. David's CBS because he was in the Billy Barries which is a dance group that a number of people find gay. I know this because i am in St. David's and the teachers told me that its a load of Bullsh*t to sell his song. He said he was abused by the Christian Brothers, but while McFadden was in the school there was only 2 Christian Brothers One of which was Brother McDonald who was the Principal.

I'm sure he just used it to fit the rhyming of his "tune".

He's what, mid-twenties? If he'd been taught by the old-style CB's he'd need to be 10 years older...

Its a dreadfully band wagon song which is about two years late for
actually catching the damn bandwagon. Does he want to be Damien Dempsey
or something?

Another country but they start to look the same
Watch the world behind a window pane
That's not real to me

When I see my babies run,
When all the madness has been and gone,
I raise my family and live in peace,
Now that's what real to me, real to me

Dying flowers in a dressing room,
A dangerous time to let your head make up it own mind,
Got me thinking that the spirits flown,

Now that's what real to me, real to me

Picnics in the garden, and the children they can play
The first day of that summer,
And I laze here all the day,
Then we'll invite the family round and drink some English tea
Then I raise up my finger,
And watch football on T.V.

Now that's what real to me

Wake up you might be dreamin'
Wake up you might be dreamin' now

The video for Brian McFadden's new single has been withdrawn following complaints.
St Fintian's High School is featured in the video for the song "Irish Son" which contains the lyrics: "We were warped by the Christian Brothers/In the cell blocks at our schools."
St Fintian's headteacher Richard Fogarty said the video incorrectly implied that McFadden had attended his school and was abused there.
Fogarty added: "The school has always treated its pupils with respect."
Following complaints from the school, McFadden's record label Sony BMG has withdrawn the video and issued a re-edited replacement
The label added that the reference to St Fintian's was unintentional and coincidental.
In the Singles reviews for Time Out magazine, Sir Elton John wrote: "Brian is probably a nice man, but I nearly died when I listened to "Irish Son". I absolutely hated it."
"It's the worst lyric on a record I've ever heard. I had to take it off in case I committed suicide. It's just horrible. No, no, no."
