Dude, there's plenty of people waiting and wanting for DR to come back to Ireland. You just gotta keep checking back and being patient!

I wonder what's got him doing the random US show..

Maybe he wants to see some films?

I thought that he had played at Sundance before, right? I imagine that those film passes are astronomically expensive though...

i think he wants to do some different gigs, which is great for his creative process!
maybe, he´ll play in ireland by mid-2009, and i hope so, cause (if everything goes well) i´ll be there

thanks joy for the update.

He's also played the Tribeca film festival... I desperately wanted to attend that but it was impossible to get a badge....

I'm hoping he'll play in May, since that's when I'll (probably) be there for a teeny tiny week.

May.... I am not sure. I might have exams. But for my first Damo gig I would gladly miss them, I am doing a different course next year anyways.

^I'm pretty sure that in 2008 he was at a pre-oscar party with Glen & Marketa a few days before the Oscars. I guess the thread got lost when the Igloo crashed. All I remember is that it was somewhere in Hollywood and he played The Blower's Daughter...

i've been reading reviews from some bands performing at this music cafe this week and mostly they do mini-concerts rather than gig. Was reading about Razorlight and they just did 4 songs in total...

I have Tivo, and it lets me look up an artist and see if they are on any upcoming tv. Nothing on Damien so far. I also looked up the entire Sundance tv guide for monday, but found nothing. I am not giving up though. I hope that they show something.

"Damien I hope this message gets to you. I really want to thank you from my bottom of my heart for playing Blower's Daughter for me @ Sundance 09. It was such an amzing concert. YOU ROCK!!!! hugs and I hope you have an amazing time well you are @ Sundance"

Hey there... I've found someone on facebook who attended Damien's short set at Sundance... Here's what he told me:

Quote:
He opened with "The professor.
"
He told a story about relationship just prior to singing "Volcano." It was very cool when he asked the crowed to sing a three part harmony of "volcanoes melt me down," "what I am to you is not real, what I am to you, you do not need," and another harmony.

Just before singing "Cold Water," he gave us a recommendation of what to do when we're feeling down. He told us to fill a bathtub with water. Then sit in it. Put your face under the water and wait for the point when it became uncomfortable. At that point, push your face down further. When the sensation becomes even more uncomfortable, grab the back of your head and push yourself down even more. When the sensation is unbearable, grab yourself, and pull yourself out. It would feel like you were giving yourself life...very moving.

Before singing "Amie," he told a story of story of being asked to sleep over at a long time friend, but not lover. Thinking she wanted to share her bed with him, she offered her bed to him, but she slept in her sister's room. She tells him to look out the window at the stars, and he sees a shooting star.

He closed with "The Blower's Daughter."

The set lasted about an hour, which was much more than I expected or could have hoped for. The ASCAP Music Cafe only holds about 200 people. Everyone was quiet during the songs, which I appreciated. They were there to see him, not gab. It was the kind of small venue, intimate setting that makes his music more personal. He was alone on stage with just his guitar. Amazing

I'll ask some friends who attended with me about other songs he sang.
