I remember when I saw Damien in Birmingham he told a really good story of how this song got wrote - i wondered if he'd done the same story at any other gigs?

It was along the lines of:

two spirits out in the night and it started really raining badly so they both ran for the nearest shelter which happened to be a pub, at the door of the pub, the man having more kinetic energy and being a little more aggressive knocked the women over as they both reached the entrance at the same time. He picked her up and offered her a drink and they sat talking and drinkingfor hours. The man had never met anyone like this women and they were really connecting, then he realised he was going to miss the last bus home but also realised she must need to catch the same bus - so if shes not bothered about the bus its obvious she intends to spend the night with him. So he spends his last bit of money on another drink and they go on talking. an hour or so later she announces she has to go because her fioncee (husband- i can't remember) was picking her up. She gave him some cigarettes to keep him warm and left. When the man got home he wrote this song.

This is also fits in with whats written on the CD inlay where it says:

2am - recorded sound of glasses etc

It is saidas well that he recorded it on the 1st floor of his parents house when they were sleeping...do you know of it's true?

Yeah... Its kinda bad that.

The other thing we have to be very grateful for as far as that song goes is that the friend he rang at 5.30 am to sing it to is a very very nice person.
