I am. a song by me, i recorded it, tape-to-tape-to-tape-to-tape.

It's the best i could do, i'm pretty proud. I'm so glad i managed to actually record a song without getting angry and smashing things... 4 seperately recorded tracks too.

Listen & Download:

This is.... wonderful. The flute sound kills me. Remind me of the Beatles psychedelic songs...

it's a recorder lol, I wasn't sure whether it was quirky or anoying

"Reminds me of the Beatles psychedelic songs..."

Now that's what I call a compliment! Have either of you got lastfm? The more listens i get there, the higher up i can get it on their charts... you never know.

Good stuff

I beat you to using a recorder. Seriously, I did.

However, you did a good job. I liked the song, and the recorder blended everything together nicely.

It's just what i got! Lol, you can have the crown! Mr."I was there, i did it first"

Thanks ya! The only thing that bothers me is lack of the bass on the guitar.... i suppose it's my forfeit. I reckon i need a little pre-amp.

I thought it was ok. i think the tape style recordinng added somthing to it, alomost like luistening in on a private recording. A bit like listening to a dick drake demo track. There was somthing about how the vocals overlay the track i just really didnt like. I htink they distort to much, either that or they have a strange mix up with the recorder, whoch detracts form the vocals and tthe recorder. Could you pan the vocals slightly right and the recorder slightly left or somthing to seperate them. (most notable mixed in the i am fantastic i am wonderful parts)

Othr than that i feel youve got a very strange sounding song, which i mean in a good way. i like the instrumentation. But yeah, not nesseceraly how the vocals are sung, just the way they mix into the song is my biggest problem with it.

hmmmm i dno what you mean. Though i think your're just saying there's just "something" wrong

But recording onto tape from the downstairs hifi, i only have one input, so it's all mono and i have to record each track over the last, the levels are trial and improvement, rather than record it all-mix it later.

All i could do was a bit of mastering. I did try to fake stereo with delay, stereo-reverb, and "harmonic excitement" as it were, to try and make it sound less of a cafuffle. I messed with an equaliser to get rid of noise and try to lift the bass a bit; all i could do because it was just recorded without enough bass, so i just ended up increasing a lot of lower-frequency analogue "rumble" which was rubish.

i think the melody in the guitar is too loud and the recorder is too loud, but if i try to bring them down, i end up losing the crispness on other tracks.

So yeah, it's like listening in on a private recording... cos it is lol

I'm not 100% satisfied... had i it my way, it'd be me with a someone singing along, and a recorder, and a dozen other instruments and when i recorded it it'd sound exactly like it did live.

I'll remaster it a bit and send it to ya to see what thou dost think.

I understand the recording woes. I've been there.

I do have a Mac, but I don't have a good microphone.

i didnt just say thewre was "somthing wrong at all" i pointed out exactly what i thought it was. the mix. the fact that your voclas and instruments are not sitting wel togehter. i delibratly gace you "constructive" critisium. So dont be a dick about making i dont know what i was talking about.

I wasn't being volatile in any way! i just thought it was something you couldn't put ur finger on: "either that or". I thought the mix was just a sugestion of what COULD be wrong, about which you were right. I honestly just missunderstood you on your certainty, no more!

I definitely didn't try to sound rude, i should have spent a bit more time reading through my post, i was rushing and the tone is a bit skew. But I was just explaining why the mix was sounding ****ty, no rudeness was intended.

I didn't imply you didn't know what you were talking. I was saying you were right, and that it needed fixing and that i was annoyed i couldn't do much about it.

Even in my last sentence i was saying that i'd taken your constructive criticism onboard and would try and fiddle with the mastering, and send it to YOU for help!

I hope I clarified that a bit better, sorry for the mix up.

I've remastered it a bit, I think it's slightly improved.
