HELLO PPL!!Umm... shoulda done this earlier. Anyway hi I'm Joe, 29, from Belfast. I'm into stuff like 60's/70's Motown, the Pixies, the Pogues (Shane MacGowan best lyricist ever!!), Husker Du, Buffalo Tom, Nick Drake and too many more to mention. First Damien Rice song I heard was "Cold Water" about 3/4 months back, I think my jaw hit the floor,I walked straight out the door in a sort oftrance and bought "O". The rest, as they say, is history. Feel free to drop me a note anyone, anytime cos I'm a nice geezer. |

Hi, I'm Mary. I just discovered Damien about a month ago when his album was released here in the U.S. I heard "Volcano" on the progressive rock channel on our DirecTV system here. I remember walking through my living room when the song started and immediately having to sit down and listen to the rest....I was in a trance; totally taken in by both Damien's and Lisa's voices and the wonderful music. They have barely started playing Damien's music here.....(I'm in Southern California) and showing the Volcano video on MTV and VH1. I purchased "O" last week and have been raving about Damien to all my friends. Many of them tuned into watch Damien on Conan here last week and were impressed....more new fans in the making. I love the entire album, as does my husband (and not just because he's also Irish) and our 2 kids. In fact, my 8 year old daughter is obsessed with "Cannonball". I also have downloaded many great mp3s from this site and been reading everything I can about Damien here so thanks for that! My current favorite right now is "Delicate". I'm planning to see Damien when he comes this way to L.A. in October....too bad Lisa won't be with him, though. Other artists I love: Tori Amos (huge fan, I'll be seeing my 4th show of this tour coming up this weekend), Aimee Mann, Jeff Buckley, Nick Cave, Fiona Apple, Sting, Coldplay, Radiohead, Cake, Something For Kate, Dashboard Confessional and many others.... And I'll be 33 in a couple months....sure hope it's not the end!!<img border="0" src= "smileys/smiley2.gif"> PS - Mr. Zebra, are you by chance another Tori fan?

Hello Everyone, I am from California, USA. I am eighteen and I feel stupid because most of you have known of Damien Rice so long. I saw him on VH1 about three mornings ago with his 'Volcano' video and I became an immediate fan right then and there. He is starting to become a topic of conversation among the well-educated in music and poetry. Anyone out here who has listened to him usually becomes a fan because they love the poetry of his lyrics and the string arrangement and etc. Please, someone answer my post on Irish lingo. ~Natasha

Jesus Paudie, what a coincidence. Hows everything getting on with the job? Are you doing much? Im not, in fact I go into work and wonder how im actually going to get through the day. Bored out of my brains. Based in Cork. Much craic in Boston? Shane and Robbie have been in contact alot, they're having a wild time.

Yeah, everything's grand, in fairness. I'm the same as you with regard to work though. Great craic here in fairness. Nursing a savage hangover this mornin. It's just a pity that Rubbers(Diarmuid) and all the other lads I live with in Cork aren't out here too.

Rubbers, never heard him called that before, brilleant. Thought he was in the states for the summer aswell. Obviously not! Found this site a few days ago, but pity that not many use it, has got alot of potential. 30 degrees here in Cork today so the office is like a sauna. Heat wave here at the mo. I think ive registered to about 10 sites since starting work, its ridiculous. Headed to Amsterdam a few weekends ago, so thats been the highlight of the summer, o ya, Witness aswell was class and Springsteen in the RDS was unreal, massive fan. Good to hear from you Paudie, good to hear your enjoying yourself aswell

Apparently, he's had that nickname since primary school! Nah, they were thinkin about it for a while, but they decided against. Very jealous bout Witnness alrite...Heard it was great. I went to Miami for the 4th July wkend. That's probably the highlight for me. Had a week off and went to New York, and Newport aswell. Feck it, I missed the place! Saw Barca and Juve last week. That was cool too. I'd say I won't be doin a whole lot more out here. I've a huge loan to pay off. Its a beotch. I will be catching DR on Sept 13 tho.Anyway, it was good to hear from u. I'll probably bump into you on one of those other boards aswell!! Good luck Donal boy. P.S. I coulda gone to Springsteen last week but it was almost $75 or something and I wouldn't be that familiar with most of his songs. My mates went tho. Said it was brilliant.
