Where is the Strangest Place You've Ever Heard a Damien Rice Song Playing?
I don't have a very good one...the strangest plave I've ever heard a Damien Rice song playing was "Amie" at a homeschooler's winter formal run by uber Christians.

I heard Damien Rice blarring out of this old man's car.
The guy was like 80 and he was listening to "Prague" at full blast. One thing's certain: the geezer had taste.

I heard Cannonball (album version) in a Starbucks in Auckland, New Zealand. I was on my own mini-tour and it just made me smile so much, I played it in my set that night at All Nations Tavern. I didn't think anyone would know damo in NZ and so had removed his covers from my set.
Ah, happy days indeed.

Radio version has drums and is slightly faster for mainstream ears.

(...i dont mean to sound snotty but i would advise you not to listen to the remix...i covered my ears and did the whole "lalalala" thing when i heard it first..the main reason is probably coz im well used to the original cannonball...but i just don’t like the remix at all...)

I heard Damien on an episode of LOST and of ER, and was quite shocked at both!! As far as the radio edit of Volcano... I have to agree that I am not really a big fan of it... It just doesn't seem Damien's style!!

Horatio Caine: Bag it, tag it and let's see what else is there!
[Pedro is a suspect] Horatio Caine: Gentlemen, may I? Lawyer: Be kind, Horatio. Horatio Caine: As always. All right, now, Pedro, the gun we found in your room has tied you to two murders. Lawyer: But possession doesn't make my client the killer. Horatio Caine: We also have your skin cells on the tourniquet you used. Lawyer: ALLEGEDLY used. Horatio Caine: Allegedly used. [turns to the Lawyer] Horatio Caine: Now, are you going to rebut everything I'm saying? Lawyer: Yes. Horatio Caine: Excellent. Horatio Caine: Alright, be on the lookout for an Eastern European male with bad teeth who may have access to an ape. haha, yeah. But i think they have played another one of his songs on the Program! Oh i once heard him on an Aer Lingus Inflight radio thingy thing!

it's not completely strange and i didn't really hear it, but i had my students bring in their favorite song lyrics to class and they swapped lyrics did critical analyses of them using the different layers of interpretation. one of my students brought in the lyrics for "i remember."
i had to restrain myself from giving extra credit on the spot. |

ooh i heard damien today! okay so maybe it doesn't seem like a big deal but it's NEVER happened before (except for tv ads for the movie closer) but i was in a coffee shop getting a double mocha latte and as i turned to go out the door eskimo came on i was shocked! damien rice playing in a shop is novel enough but.. eskimo?! i thought it was very cool.. i stood in the doorway for awhile listening before i went on to work.. i disagree - happy joe's has excellent taco pizza. and little joes are excellent.
(the analysis of "i remember" was sorely lacking, by the way - the person who drew that song took every word very literally, which was okay until damien's part kicked in...) |

I was a bouncer for a James Blunt concert awhile ago in my area. Someone shouted out "play cannonball!" Its not exactly like hearing the song, but it really made me laugh. James Blunt looked pretty pissed after that.

And where might you be from my friend?? I have to say my opinion is biased... I am vegetarian and a believer that "taco" and "pizza" don't go together!!! JAMES BLUNT..... HMMMMMMMMMMM... How DO WE FEEL ABOUT HIM???
