Lisa MP3's (Non-Album)
I don't know if anyone else goes so ape-s**t over music they have to get their hands on everything they can of their fav musicians, but I'm certainly one such person. In light of this I thought I'd post a link to any tracks I could find worth having. Quality is questionable on a few. The Other Voices tracks are ripped directly from the HQ avi links posted in the "Lisa Solo" thread. Came out at 192kbps and sound beautiful. If you've got anything I'm missing, PLEASE feel free to post.

Great contribution!
The only one I can think of is the "Mercedes Benz" song. I don't have it but I'm sure someone does |

Great idea in putting all this together!
I think we can also add: - Set The Fire to the Third Bar with Snow Patrol - Down to the River with Paul Noonan - Love Hurts with Paul Noonan - Blow The Wind Southerly - What A Curious Notion (Mic Christopher cover) with Glen Hansard (though it's not the best recording) - The Guests with Emmett Tinley - Green Eyes - Road To Nowhere (from the Pirate Sounds event, though she's just doing backup here since Paul Noonan's got the lead) - Lay Me Down (with Glen Hansard) And then there's Some Surprise (one with Gary Lightbody and one with Paul Noonan), but those you can legally buy... so... they probably shouldn't go up here. ETA: I completely forgot, there is a live version of Some Surprise! http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZTxsjMQVkM Last edited by srahman24; 11-23-2008 at 10:21 PM. |

Though I'm not a huge fan of youtube audio rips, sometimes it's the only thing available. So I'll see what I can do about the rest of these tracks. Any more ideas?!? |

Oops. You're right about Bonny Blue Sea. And of course Green Eyes is actually Courting Blues, which you have up already.
Well, I'm uploading the rest to mediafire so have a listen: http://tinyurl.com/6j7nnd Most of it's pretty good - the ones with Paul Noonan, Set The Fire with Snow Patrol, and Lay Me Down with Glen Hansard are proper versions (by "proper" I mean from a bootleg, not youtube) Also, I have up a bootleg version of Lucky, her duet with Jason Mraz on his latest tour |

I have no proof since I don't have the album myself, and I could find no reference, but it seems to me that there the girl singing backing vocals on the original version of Queen of Hearts sounds remarkably Lisa-esque.... Can anyone clarify?

I hear what you're saying, but somehow I doubt it's actually her. I assume that if it was we'd be able to find info linking her to the recording. Of course there isn't much info out there on The Mary Janes in general, so who knows.

^Well, she sings that song a lot. And, she's been a good friend of Mic's. Someone should ask her, that'd solve the mystery.

^^^ My pleasure. It took me a couple nights of extreme google-ing to find the majority of these tracks, so I figured I would post them so others wouldn't have to go through the same process. Enjoy!

^She sang Some Surprise a few times with Gary, and also with Paul at Pirate Sounds. I don't know of Needles or Last Leaf being played live.

^ I can upload "the ship song" to the 4shared folder if you allow the feature that lets people do that. (unless it's already there, and i can't find it).

^^ I'll try and have an upload folder available by tonight....but it would certainly be appreciated! As long as it's a little more than a youtube rip.

Lisa's opening set for Jason Mraz from Nov. 28 is up online!
http://www.musicwebtown.com/tbrown4/231909 (FYI: the music's on auto-play) She played My Pirate Disco And I think this recording of Free Until They Cut Me Down is clearer than the youtube version... |

I know I'm a bit late on this, but thanks for all the mp3s...never heard 'What A Curious Notion' with Glen before...
Oh, and I uploaded a better version of Lisa and Marketa singing 'Gently Johnny' to the upload folder...

Thanks for the mp3s. Somehow I find it that Lisa's voice, the volume at least, often varies within the songs. Maybe it's her dancing that's moving her away from the microphone or something. Or maybe it's just me sour graping cos I wasn't able to catch her shows with Mraz. Oh well, I'm hoping for another tour next year when Sea Sew's released in North America.

Take A While and Coming Down - the latter featuring one of my favourite melodies....ever

Thank you so much! That was really neat to hear her with Glen Hansard.
When listening to Other Voices, you can tell how different some of the songs were back then (even though she didn't write it, like the way she sung Courting Blues, and had the extra little verse). Ahhh I love that song... |
