The Eurovision Daughter
Just woke up to hear Ray D'Arcy playing The Blower's Daughter in Greek. Sung by the guy who's gonna be presenting Eurovision this weekend....
>>>>>> UPDATE: Found it on www.youtube.com . Search for blower sakis. The guy is Sakis Rouvas. There's a live TV version on there, which is pretty true to the original and isn't bad I don't think....then there's the recorded version with a horrible drum-track running through it. I quite liked the piano part he added tho. Lisa's bit is awful. And I think he cut off the "'til I find somebody new" line. A bit of Vodafone product placement in there - I think that's a Vodafone cap, and his camera-phone is pretty obvious. Maybe it's being used in a Greek Vodafone commercial?? Anyone speak Greek here? 2.22 in to the recorded version he sings "I guess I care oh" . Would be interesting to know if he changed the lyrics much. Here's a direct link.
This is scary. It demonstrates everything that could have easily gone wrong with the song in a lesser hand.

I 'm downloading just now(sorry but i cannot listen to any of the playstation that play Sakis and i dont watch TV....) I am really curious about the lyrics - but unfortunatelly it must be .... This guy is a nightmare, his face is everywhere even in sheets and towels and, yes, he is a Vodafone persona.

i ended up shouting at the screen (which i sometimes do) "get a real job!!" Its horrible and not worthy of playing in an elevator yet alone a music video So many talented people out there and its wasted on this guy maybe im gone overboard but im just so shocked at how awfull that was

i watched a bit of the clip now first, i was more or less capable of that. but the video is horrible! the studio version is just crap and i physically got sick now!
i heard it this morning as well and thought it was a joke. i couldn't believe that he really would take that song and would just translate the lyrics! i was so glad i had to leave the house then... but no - that's just disgraceful... but nevertheless, i would be curious what damien has to say to that... didn't he have to give his approval to that?

lmao! i seriously laughed all the way through that! i'm having a hard time taking that seriously (whether it's meant ot be or not).. his voice is what's cringe worthy and the lyrics don't even translate well into greek, esp. the 'i can't take my eyes off of you' part.. and my god what a poser! how he flexes his arms and purses his lips.. hilarious what a joke!
damien has been letting people cover his songs but jeez not product placement! noooo damoooo... (i still feel sick whenever i hear lust for life on the cruise ship commercials) that's the only thing that really bothered me, when he flashed that vodaphone and smirked i wanted to slap him |

i once knew it. but i would be more interested in what the whole phrase means, that he sings there.
what do you think of 'bu gece son'? it's like an untold hymn, isn't it? i once had the cd (btw, i know that it is a different singer), but i left it in vienna when i moved, couldn't take everything with me... i got it in trabzon, the last station of our tour through anatolia, which was fabulous! do you know where i could find a translation of the lyrics?

oynama şıkıdım şıkıdım! 'don't dance so hot' (or something like this because actually şıkıdım is just an adverb of a sound which means hot) bu gece son is one of the best song which has really nice lyrics, exactly like an untold hymn and also you should watch the video of it.. And I am not sure if you can find some translation of the song, but maybe you can ask a friend |

yeah, anatolia is really beautiful! such a varied landscape and many beautiful places to see! i loved van, with the lake and the ruin of the castle on the long hill, from where you could see the lake and behind it the mount ararat! and the ruin if the church in the middle of the lake. such a place of peace! i really rested there, my body and my soul and i desperately want to go back for another visit some day!
