First time I've traveled over big water masses to see such an amazing show.
Completely blown away. I don't keep set lists. I only know that what I witnessed tonight was a rarity. Will write more when I make it to a proper computer. Thank you band, thank you Hiro, thank you everyone there. (forgive the spelling and whatever else- I'm very high from this gig). |

Show
Drove in from Philly (great ride no traffic) for the show and it was well worth it. Met up with Spamlet (Doug) and found out for him that tickets were available at the door at $30.00, he was a happy young man. Great show, new songs and old a good mix, fun show.
Nic Harcourt KCRW in from California sat next to us Next show for us is Upper Darby, only a 5 minute drive

Hiro show -- any recordings of this?
I was at this Hiro show too, and completely dazzled. If anyone has any part of this show recorded or some decent photos I would love to have them to help remember this show.

i think last night was the most amazing musical night of my life. i was blown away by the show! i've never been to the hiro before, but i would go see any show there, it's really a cool place - such an intimate atmosphere. Vyv was really funny last night, i enjoyed her rendition of the cheers darlin story

And to the people I met who might be here, I have your emails and will be in touch about the pics as well. It was a wonderful night. Thank you Damo, venue, everyone. May you all get to experience something like this. It was...amazing. (i know i keep saying that). Oh and that song about red and nose and happy was from crowd suggestions for words for a "new" song so yeah, it was spontaneity and he just made it up as he went along (that's my take anyway). runny nose, reddened room, eyes make him happy...something like that. Cheers, gisele (soitisgirl) |

Gisele, I think you were right in front of us. I took a number of photos as well, but I am not sure I was able to capture as much color and lightas you were able to with your camera. I will look through my photos sometime this weekend and see if I can play with the levels at all.

Video from Hiro show
Here are some video links from Damien's performance at Hiro.
They're on YouTube. I had to compress them and change format, and they're a little dark and not the best focus, but anyway, I hope they at least capture part of the show experience. Hope you enjoy. (plus: I hope to have lots of pictures sometime this week.) The links work. Hope they appear ok below. Damien Rice, Hiro, NYC, 16 Nov 2006 "Sand" (complete performance) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ4S4tKqdPA Most of "Elephant," from "And she may cry like a baby..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjP_DveX--w Most of "Delicate," from "some sacred place..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBRe8-utI-s |

I can't agree more with everyones sentiments regarding this show. I don't come home from shows and say OMFG this was the best show ever, but now that I've given it a few days to set in, I think it is the 3rd best show I have seen of all time. Behind Ben Harper 9/30/00, and DMB 12/21/02 for me.
Seriously just awesome. The mix of old and new (Sand was awesome!) the intimacy of the venue (Damo talked to a lot, Lisa didn't even seem nervous), the extremely good behavior of the crowd, and you could tell Damo really appreciated it. Just a great show all around, and a great venue. Only problem is Beacon and Tower have a lot to live up to now!

yep was that kind of a night. have seen endless shows...the dead, zeppelin on their final tour to the states (ok i was only 11 but was there), the clash on their first tour in the states...and this night ranks up there with the most memorable. hard to imagine that the beacon can measure up. but lets hope!

So, as my first Damien show, sitting in the front row, having gotten my ticket at the door right before, I am, 4 days later, still on a high! It was so bloody amazing!!!!!!!! Everything about it. Just brilliant.
The Hiro is such a beautiful venue too. It was perfect. I just wish it was taped. Someone tell me it was taped! I've been listening to 9 (and O) on repeat ever since. In a way, I liked hearing all the songs not on his MySpace live first. It was kinda cool... But yeah, I'm spoiled for life. |

SHOW PHOTOS, finally
Finally. Almost a week after, with a bout of the flu ongoing (thank you airplane travel), I have managed to upload over 100 pictures of the Hiro show. They are on my Flickr site.
You can see the set here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gisele1...7594385355964/ All the pics are in order of the show (and numbered as such). I titled them best I could. They were taken from a front row aisle seat. You can also view the set as a slideshow either by choosing the option on Flickr or by going here directly: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gisele1...85355964/show/ The slide show has no individual photo titles, though. If you like any of them, feel free to download and use as you please. Some are without flash. Some soft flash. Some regular flash. I tried my best and got a little (ahem) carried away. I hope you enjoy them. |
