I need to get out of America. I'm thinking of Spain, or possibly Ireland. I've never been to Europe before, so, does anyone have any suggestions?

ok, it's not that bad here, is it? i know we have bush (republicans in general), hip hop, mariah carey, branjelina, bill o'riley, republicans, blind chauvinism, ashton kutcher, no independent media, republicans, jerry springer, the most over-reacting people in the world and have i mentioned republicans? but there are nice things here too, no? anybody

no, it's not america's fault that i feel the need to leave. it's just that i have a wanderlust, and i don't think i would be happy living here my entire life. i live in lexington, kentucky, and love it here. i just got the feeling in my bones, i need to go. anyone else ever get that?

. however i'm planning to go up a hill with my guitar for 10 years. i'm thinking: scottish highlands, or irish hills. i think i'd prefer ireland yno.

and americastan rocks. u gots jazz and blues and country. nice if u asks me. not saying that we don't. but i gots these ole images of grandpa blues, sitting out in his rockin chair on the veranda, struming some ole never-heard rag. now that, only gonna be seen in the country they call americastan. yno, i'd love to do an alan lomax pilgrimage. like that gent i saw do a documentary on blues. he was a lunky funk.

that's the reason why i am in ireland now

it depends on what you want to experience. every country has a charm of its own. i mean, i can definitely recommend austria and ireland, i've already been to france and italy as well and turkey (not just the touristy stuff...) and greece. one weekend in antwerp as well. i wouldn't go to switzerland. it may be nice but nothing to live. swiss are kinda strange people. i loved all the other countries i was in. the good thing was that i got to know them a lot through kinda exchange programmes, and that made it special because you get a glimpse behind the scenes. which languages can you speak? in some countries it may be an advantage to know a bit of the regional language even you should be able to communicate at least a bit in english as it is taught all over europe, you know? europe in general is beautiful and it has wonderful cities to visit or as well to live in.

i can speak a good deal of spanish, which is why i thought about hanging out in spain for a while. i mainly want to go some other place and learn how america is percieved first hand, to be the foreigner for once, rather than being from america, where all is lovely. ive heard its pretty expensive to live in ireland. any truth to that rumour? if i had my way, i would just roam around europe for a while. for those people from europe: unlike america, you have a lot more countries that are easily accessible. so is it a big deal if you spend the weekend in a country your not from? or does it ever cross your mind to do so?

true, penguin boy, we do have SOME good music, but most of what i like and listen to comes from the UK or Ireland or Germany or Scotland....all the way across a ****ing ocean.

let's see, what else can i think of that's good....Starbucks? Natalie Portman. quite a few faboulous musicians and legends. Dave Matthews. uhmm....liberals! though we're dwindling on the big population front.

really that's all i can think of. sad, isn't it?

I quite liked the go to czech rep, there's cheap beer thing. now that's what i call a good one-liner.

can anyone tell me how to get accepted to a college (preferably a decent one near london) in England? I'm from Wisconsin, so really i have no clue.

We have starbucks in Dublin now. when i say we i mean they - Dublin is like another f*ckin country. Talk about having what you want where you want it.

Where i live you have what you need.. water, electricity. and thats it.
no shops
pubs 3 miles away
sheep
cows
some chickens
a plentiful supply of lakes and cups of tea.
