has any one out there in the land of the www's got any experience using cool edit pro, I'm trying to record old jazz records for my dad onto my computer so i can burn them to CD for him. The problem is that below a certain volume Cool edit pro will not record any sound, this results in the quieter parts of the track being lost in silence. Very sad....

Help me anyone????

I haven't used that program but it could be that the software is trying to cut out any hissing and therefore it's also cutting out the quiet stuff. Or it could be the mic itself. I'm purely gussing here but if you're stuck then any suggestions should help, right?

its not the hiss, u can chose to reduce that after its recorded. Ive got it going through line in now so its not the mic. any other ideas let me know. I'm half coming to the conclusion that its my sound card not sensitive enough, their mightbe a minimum recording trigger leveldo you know of any other wave editors i could try?

thanks
