Lyrics to Dogs
Have you noticed how there are a bunch of changes in the lyrics from The Girl That Does Yoga to Dogs?? There use to be a part about the girl having a little dog!! and it's gone now... Here is a transcript of Dogs. I think I got it mostly right except for this line in which he sings something like "splashed in"... Check it please, feedback appreciated,
DOGS She lives with an orange tree The girl that does yoga She picks the dead ones from the ground When we come over She gives, I get Without giving anything to me Like a morning sun Like a morning Like a morning sun Girl that does yoga When we come over Girl that does yoga And he lives with a little house On the side of a little hill Picks the litter from the ground Litter little brother spills He gives, I get Without giving anything to me And the dogs they run And the dogs they run The good good morning sun Side of a little hill Litter little brother spills Side of a little hill And she's always dressed in white She's like an angel And she burns my eyes And she turns She pulls a smile We drive her round And she drives us wild And she moves like a little girl I become a child, man she moved my world And she gets splashed in (?) And turns away and leaves me standing She lives with an orange tree The girl that does yoga She's got a wolf to keep her warm When he comes over And she gives, He gets Without giving anything to see And the day it ends And the day it And the day it ends And there's no need for me The girl that does yoga When we come over The girl that does yoga |

Here is the old line, but that's all that different really.
She lives with a little dog That's gone just a little mad She's got a wolf to keep her warm If ever she's feeling sad |

It's a great song. One of Damien's rare cheery ones. It's in my top 3.

This has always been one of my favourites-it's such a feel-good kind of song. But I've always wondered if the line 'there's no need for me' is supposed to give the song a sad twist at the end or is there some other interpretation for that?

DOGS Well she lives with an orange tree The girl that does yoga She picks the dead ones from the ground When we come over And she gives, I get Without giving anything to me Like a morning sun Like a morning Like a morning sun The Good, good morning sun. The girl that does yoga When we come over The Girl that does yoga Well he lives in a little house On the side of a little hill Picks the litter from the ground Litter little brother spills He gives, I get Without giving anything to me And the dogs they run And the dogs they And the dogs they run In the good, good morning sun The side of a little hill Litter little brother spills The side of a little hill Oh and she's always dressed in white She's like an angel And she burns my eyes Oh and she turns She pulls a smile We drive her round And she drives us wild Oh and she moves like a little girl I become a child, man When she moves my world And she gets splashed in paint And turns away (was originally "walks away") and leaves me standing (another change: in the original he then sang "still" here) Well she lives with an orange tree The girl that does yoga She's got a wolf to keep her warm When he comes over And she gives, He gets Without giving anything to see And the day it ends And the day it And the day it ends And there's no need for me. The girl that does yoga When we come over The girl that does yoga

I think he says 'Ooh' instead of 'Oh' in the thirtieth line. Maybe we should have that checked out. But then, I wouldn't know, I've never heard it.

Good call Bumpman! I'll get right on it, seeing as I don't have any self control and have already listened to the stream a couple of times. I'll let you know on my verdict ASAP.
(Edited because I'd typed a "m" instead of a "," ) (Edited again: The stream is down! I guess we'll just have to rely in Spamlet's interpretation of it being an "oh" and not an "ooh". This is really going to bug me now, though. Maybe we should start a poll to see what the majority think?)

Ooh, editing... That's very bold. Anyway, despite the above pisstaking; Good work Spamlet! Your attention to detail is somewhere between tremendously impressive and highly worrying.

Dude asked for corrections and Lawd knows how I believe in being THOROUGH.
Matter of fact that should be my new nickname 'round here: Henry David Thorough! I'll be at Walden in case anybody phones. What do you mean "they've re-named them all to Borders Express"?

Thanks Spamlet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess "splashed in paint" makes sense... I checked now but this part is not sung very clearly... Yesterday I was hearing "splashed in rain" but yeah "paint" makes more sense... And have you noticed there are also some changes in the other songs? In Coconut Skins for instance, there is a change in one line, he used to sing "No need to know what you're doing or waiting for" and now he sings "looking for" instead... There are also some changes in Rootless Tree, at least from the live versions I have... Now he sings "What I want from us is empty our minds" (instead of "What I want from us is learn to let go") and later "Of all that’s been Told" (instead of, Of all that is Old)... And I think there are also changes on TBD2... Well thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

On somewhat of a side note:
Are there any musicians out there who are finding this rather difficult to play? Here is the tab I'm learning by: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/...e/dogs_tab.htm I mean, I'm just now picking up travelers pick, but I really want that feel that Damo has. If anyone else has another tab, be my guest.
