Default Listen to "Elephant"

"Elephant" was played on Morning Becomes Eclectic today. There's a link to a stream of today's program on the news page, so you can listen to it for the next 24 hours.

Do you think 'Elephant' is going to be the second single off of '9'?

i did not see that coming. when he breaks into the he-did-it-in-Bonnaroo bridge? did not see that coming. wow........ that climax is amazing.

It's weird. It's really different compared to how he does it live... i think in some sense this studio version sounds less polished. I don't know. I like anyway.

I don't know when it starts exactly - but it's near the beginning, within the first 20 minutes or so.

After the first set of songs, Nic does his roundup, then there's a commercial, then it's Damien!

Just heard it!!!!!!! The song is played after 15 minutes more or less...

and it's just AMAZING!!!! Mind-blowing, beyond words!!!!! It's fantastic, so raw and emotional!!!! Not over-produced at all!!!!!! WOW!!! The cello is very soft, almost cannot hear it, Lisa also comes at the very end, very soft, almost whispering...

I think it's similar to the live version, but with soundboard quality and nicer effects with the cello, the backing vocals and especially his voice!! His voice sounds really raw and deep and emotional, especially the last verse is incredible...pure feeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is gonna be the best album ever in the history of music!!!!

calm down boy. Better than "small change", "dark side of the moon","Ok computer"? I think perhaps not.

Elephant isnt that good . Sounds a bit poppy.

If you cannot appreciate the beauty of this song, I do not understand what the hell are you doing on this forum, shouldn't even bother replying...

Oh wow, someone disagrees with you about a song so therefore I cannot appreciate "beauty" and better not be on this site. Gosh, I reckon then all those respected critics who said stuff like the Shawshank Redemption and the Godfather wasnt their cup of tea better realise they dont have a right to write about films. Crickey, shucks, If only someone had told them earlier.

Oh dear, I better bury my worthless body in the ground now.

You sir, are a moron if you cant allow someone an opinion.

Sorry, It's just too grand at the end, too explosive, none of the subtle beauty of his other stuff.

Thanks for this! I like both this version and the live version just the same, beautiful.. I like how organic it sounds....

Edit* -- I've listened to it a few times now and i've gotta say that it sounds like a first take or something which I think is kind of cool, but I don't know I would like all the songs on the new CD to sound like this. I like how pure & clean 'O' sounds but then again, this isn't 'O' so....

to be honest... i don't like this version at all.

the guitar doesn't sound good and the singing is kind of bad imo. i'm really surprised/disappointed. i don't have nearly as high of excitment as i did to get his new cd, because so far, ive been let down by both "9 crimes" and now "elephant" i don't know why, but they just don't sound that great.

the beggining is ok, but he kind of goes in and out of key while singing throughout the song. if i compared this and the other version we all have.. i'd prolly say think this to be the rough copy if i wasn't familiar with them.

don't get me wrong.. i'm sure there will be some great material on this cd, but still... he def. did not make this song come across to be at the level as i normally think it to be.

I'm a bit surprised by the reactions. I think this version is beautiful (though I'll have to
get used to the ending). I think what we're seeing here is the 'danger' of live-recordings.
You're getting used to a song and it's hard not to be disappointed. But would you have
been if this was the first time you heard it? Doubt it.

Btw, some are saying it's 'too raw' and others are saying it's too 'poppy'. I believe that
to be contradictory, but maybe that's just me.

(oh and not to slash critics, beacuse I too was disappointed by 9 crimes)

Hey Jarmuschrules, great contribution to the thread. Thanks.

Mmm. Let me see - you listen to the song, decide you don't like it (fair 'nough - up to you), then blast someone who has asked for help.

Wow - you're a model Eskimo.

I know that this is the wrong Thread and I am not sure if it is allowed this to say here, but I have found a leaked Version of "9" on an Illigal Download Platform.
It also seems to be no fake because the comments are good!
